Independent courses in Design are also available.
Your duties as a teacher will include teaching and supervision, administrative tasks, as well as following the development that occurs within your own subject area and any societal development that is of significance to your duties as a teacher. You will also be a part of a collegiate group of teachers who teach design at undergraduate (first-cycle) and master's (second-cycle) level. As part of your teaching duties you will also be expected to pursue artistic R&D work.
Qualifications In order to be qualified for a post as Senior Lecturer (GB)/Associate Professor (US) in the fine, applied and performing arts, you must fulfil the requirements of the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, chapter 4, 4, i.e.
• have demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a doctorate in the fine, applied or performing arts or have other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties it will involve
For this post, you must also fulfil the following requirements:
• have a master's degree/or the equivalent in Design or a subject related to Design
• have professional experience in design (in one or more of the areas of design represented in the programmes offered at HDK)
• have completed the course Teaching and Learning in Higher Education (given by the University of Gothenburg), or have documentation of having acquired equivalent knowledge
• have communicative skills
• have administrative skills
• have a very good command of written and spoken English
Evaluation criteria
• artistic skills documented through wide artistic, professional experience of design activities within all the phases of the design process as well as through artistic projects, artistic R&D work or research
• pedagogical skills documented through experience of teaching, supervision and pedagogical development, preferably within higher education
• documented solid administrative experience and skills
• documented good cooperative skills
We will pay particular consideration to additional qualifications such as experience of artistic R&D work or other research activities within the subject area as well as experience of international activities within the subject area. Of significance for this post is that the applicant has a constructive attitude towards his or her work and has solid skills in planning, organising and delegating. We also attach great importance to the applicant's personal suitability.
When evaluating candidates we will attach as great importance to their pedagogical as to their artistic skills. An overall assessment will be made of all applications, after which we will employ the applicant who is considered to have the best qualifications to carry out and develop the work tasks described above. Of significance is the applicant's approach to design and the design profession and how this is related to HDK's image.
