Senior lecturer in Mucosal Immunology and Microbiology

The Institute of Biomedicine has a broad and extensive involvement in both research and education. In both of these areas, our focus is with fundamental knowledge of the living cell;
what it consists of, how it works, how its function is directed by the genetic material, and how it interacts with various kinds of microorganisms. Using this knowledge, we try to elucidate the
causes of diseases, and find new ways to diagnose and treat them.
Subject area
Mucosal Immunology and Microbiology
Specific subject description
Refers to basic studies of the immune biology / microbiology of host-pathogen interactions at mucosal surfaces.
Job assignments
Responsibilities include research, teaching at undergraduate level, mainly within the medical programme, and teaching at graduate level. Experience of course development and teaching
within medical educational progammes is considered a merit. The holder of the position is expected to conduct internationally competitive research within the field. The successful
candidate is also expected to perform other duties normally associated with a senior lectureship, such as administrative tasks, commissions of trust and also to represent the subject nationally
and internationally. Other duties may occur.
Eligibility
The qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
PhD degree and demonstrated teaching skills.
Assessment
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 - 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
The applicant must have demonstrated scientific and teaching skills relevant to the subject. The emphasis will be placed primarily on teaching and scientific skills. Consideration will also be given to the ability to interact with the community. In addition will administrative skills and ability to cooperate be considered.
