The department of Humans, Systems & Structures performs applied research and development with focus on developing the interaction between the user and the system in order to create safe, environmental friendly, efficient and satisfying products and services. We work and have competence in the below areas.
Human factors:
Intelligent vehicle technologies
Mechanics and manufacturing
Vehicle solutions and Transport analysis
Environment and chemistry
The Human Factors Group (6310) performs applied research and development, with the primary goals to develop and to ensure a safe, comfortable and efficient relationship between the user and the vehicle system. To do this we have a multidisciplinary staff of employees, skilled in human factors, engineering sciences and design.
We are looking for a person with cognitive and technical skills to strengthen Volvo in the research and development of HMI for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, In-Vehicle Information and infotainment Systems. You will have a key role in developing and evaluating HMI solutions in these areas.
Examples of work are:
Manage and lead Volvo internal R&D project in collaboration with Volvo colleagues in other Business units and areas within the Volvo global organization
Initiate and manage international R&D collaboration projects together with universities, institutes and companies within the area - on a global arena
Development and evaluation of HMI for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems and other In-Vehicle Information Systems
Background:
At least a 4-5 years college degree with solid academic background in interaction design
At least 5 years expertise in HMI development
Should have an international network within the area of Human Factors
Can work independently but also a good team player
Documented project leader skills
Flexible, can work from giving expert opinions to running and managing projects in his/her area
Critical Competencies: Human Factors engineering competence, preferably including the following:
Human Machine Interface (HMI) design, development and evaluation
Driver behavior analysis
Experimental design and statistical analysis
HMI Programming skills (Flash, Director or similar; moreover, Matlab experience is considered an advantage)
GUI and HMI prototype development (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator etc)
Entrepreneurial and innovation skills
Strong technical communications skills including technical writing and presentation
Knowledgeable in the Commercial Transportation Industry
The position will range from giving expert opinions to running and managing projects in your specific area of operation.
Further prerequisites for this position are analytical skills, thorough and good communication skills, Frequent customer contacts mean that knowledge in Swedish and English, written and spoken, is required. Furthermore, you should be a good representative of the group with the ability to create trust and good.
