u-blox is highly specialized in baseband and RF ASIC design. Our designs result in advanced system-on-chip solutions typically including an ARM CPU, peripherals, and dedicated baseband communications processing hardware. U-blox is a fabless company, focusing on key IP development. Outsourcing to third parties is used for back-end related operations wherever possible. For IC design positions u-blox generally aims at a wide span of responsibilities from specification to volume production in order to establish a challenging and diversified work environment.
The Sr Digital IC Design Engineer implements key IP and assembles the complete system of the IPs from different sources. For prototyping, a FPGA flow is maintained. The Sr IC Design Engineer is also responsible for development of test-benches for the ASIC flow, production test development and characterization.

Specification, design and integration of digital blocks
Design verification at block and top level
FPGA prototyping
Ensure performance to specification
Ensure readiness for production
Requirements
Technical reporting both written and oral
Design partitioning
Follow design and verification methodology, HW/SW co-design, FPGA Prototyping
Third party IP evaluation and selection
IP protection (patent application & research)
Responsible for specification of sub block to meet system requirements
Responsible for verification/validation of developed block
Responsible for measured results meeting reported simulation results
Responsible to meet quality standards in design flow.
Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering
5+ years experience in commercial HDL design: Embedded CPU, bus-systems, peripherals, co-processors, memories, clock- and power-management, test and verification
Excellent skills in ASIC design tool usage, e.g. Synopsys, Modelsim, Cadence
Experience in communication systems IP design: DSP, hardware accelerators, co-processors, dedicated IP
Experience in FPGA prototyping: ALTERA or XILINX toolchains, test and verification of HDL implemented in FPGA by embedded software
Used to work independently and precisely
Good communications skills
