Electrification, even in conventional diesel buses, is constantly increasing when traditional mechanical loads are replaced with electrical equivalents. This is constantly challenging us in how to develop our products and pushes us to explore what's outside of that comfortable and famous "box" in order to find solutions and opportunities that will shape the future of public transport.

Our team currently consists of 13 engineers with different background, interests and history but with a common mindset: Develop ourselves and our products! With the sea as our closest neighbor, where a lunch walk along the seaside in Arendal is an energy boosting and relaxing activity, we gather every day to secure the quality and competitiveness of our products in a fast-evolving business.
In our group, we focus on the development of electrical components and control units which are used in all our vehicles. Having a global responsibility, the solutions developed within the team can be found in Volvo buses all over the world helping millions of people every day to reach their destination. In our global responsibility, we cooperate with our sites in India, Poland, Mexico and Brazil, as well as with our Volvo-owned brands Prevost and Nova in North America. Together, we secure knowledge transfer and competence development in an effort to become an even higher performing team with passionate people.
What can we propose?
You will contribute to world-class development and integration of power generating components for both future and present transport solutions. You will be involved in writing requirements towards suppliers and internal stakeholders in order to secure the integrity of the components when installed in the vehicles. Prior to this phase, you will be responsible of leading and concluding detailed investigations, requirement break-down, FMEA, etc within the area.

B.Sc. or higher education in Electrics or Electronics Engineering is highly valuable as well as previous experience from HW-development in automotive industry. A solid knowledge and documented experience of electrical machines and alternators is considered as an asset.
Since you have good engineering judgment and priorities, you have the ability and interest to technically support, lead and challenge colleagues in their work and mindset. You like to share your passion for technical solutions and you have strong analytical and problem-solving skills. As a person you are positive; you display driving force and structured way of working.
Main area of responsibility
You will be a part of the Electrical & Electronics Component Chassis Group within the Electrical & Software Architecture Department. You will play an important role in the development of our power generating components and the main responsibilities are
Alternators
Electrical machines
Integrate and test functionality in complete buses as well as in rigs
Lead discussions with internal and external suppliers
Secure strategy compliance, quality and requirement fulfillment before releases
