We are currently looking for a Senior GIS Backend Engineer experienced in working with mid to large scale geospatial data.

What you'll work on:
Creating and overseeing the underlying geospatial data infrastructure that supports GIS applications.
Designing and developing the databases, APIs, and software components to enable the storage, retrieval, and manipulation of location-based data.
Collaborating as a member of a cross-functional team to define, design, and ship new features in a continuous delivery environment.
Maintaining a high code quality standard by writing thoughtful code and reviewing code from other engineers.
Optimizing performance of complex systems under load to keep things running smoothly.
Improving the development process, to increase efficiency of development and quality of the product.
Diagnosing issues and bugs, monitoring metrics and alerts, and mitigating incidents.
What we are fishing for:
You have experience working with mid to large scale geospatial data.
You have experience using GIS software such as QGIS and open source tools like PostGIS.
You are comfortable with data acquisition and management of the various formats and qualities of geospatial data currently available.
You have strong software engineering fundamentals, including data structures, design patterns, and complexity analysis.
You have got experience with databases, networking and running distributed software in a cloud environment.
You are smart, get stuff done, have great energy, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.
Extra nice to have
You are fluent in one of the programming languages: Ruby or Python
Experience with designing GraphQL APIs
Experience with infrastructure such as ElasticSearch, AWS, Docker or Terraform
Experience with designing for performance in systems at scale and under heavy load.

Our office is based in Stockholm (Södermalm) and we have a hybrid-remote work arrangement. We prioritize in-person collaboration, which means we operate from our offices at least two days per week.
