Senior Environmental Advisor "Nuclear" / Staff Function Environment
Staff Function Environment is seeking an Environmental Advisor to be responsible for both strategic and operational activities regarding environment and radiation protection towards BU Nuclear.
SF Environment is - in close cooperation with the Business Divisions (BD) and the Business Units (BU) - responsible for setting the Group-wide Environmental strategy, targets and KPIs. SF Environment is divided in three functional areas Environmental Management, Environmental Risk Management and Environmental Performance Monitoring. In Environmental Management the areas of responsibility is to establish ways of working closely across the organisation and to support the operational environmental activities with efficient and valuable tools and methods.
Job Description
The Environmental Advisor Nuclear will be responsible for coordination of both strategic and operational environmental activities within BU Nuclear. The responsibility is to manage all environmental aspects for BU Nuclear and therefore a close corporation with BU Nuclear is essential.
Business Unit Nuclear power is responsible for electricity generation based on nuclear power. Vattenfall operates seven nuclear power reactors in Sweden: four at Ringhals and three at Forsmark; as well as two in Germany: one at Brunsbüttel and one at Krümmel. Furthermore Vattenfall owns a minority share of the Brokdorf nuclear plant in Germany. Included in the BU are also the companies SKB, KSU, VF Fuel, Barsebäck Kraft AB, SVAFO and SQC. Nuclear power currently accounts for 26% of Vattenfall's total electricity generation.
As the Environmental Advisor for Nuclear you will chair and operate BU Nuclear Environmental Advisory Team (NEAT) with representation from Forsmark, Ringhals, VENE, SKB and Nuclear Fuel.
The responsibilities consist of planning, implementation and follow up to ensure compliance with regulation through a structured approach in line with the Group Management System. The Environmental advisor must also suggest measures that will enable the BU Nuclear to improve performance and reach targets. This position must also ensure coordination of all activities closely with SF Environment to find synergies and common practises across the organisation.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Environmental governance
• Monitor national and international legal development within relevant areas
• Coordinate Environmental Management activities such as:
• Developing and maintaining environmental instructions
• Planning of the yearly Environmental Management Reviews
• Maintaining and implementing environmental strategy including KPIs and targets
• Risk and Environmental reporting
• Monitoring of environmental operational performance
Radiation protection coordination
• Operate RadNet (BU radiation protection network) secretariat
• Order, coordinate and manage Radiation protection activities at BU Engineering
Your profile
• Strong academic background (Engineering/Business Administration/Finance/Strategy)
• Experience of Environmental aspects of nuclear and radiation protection
• Business understanding
• Well-developed communicative, strategic and conceptual skills
• High motivation, flexibility and drive,
• Strong team approach
• Fluent English skills and negotiation abilities
Location: Stockholm is preferred and Berlin possible, travelling required
