Avalanche Studios is the original creator of the award-winning Just Cause franchise (published by Square Enix), the developer of Mad Max (published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment) and is currently working on Rage 2 (published by Bethesda Softworks), scheduled for release in 2019. As a publisher, Avalanche Studios has brought free-to-play service theHunter Classic to market and reached more than 7 million registered players across 190 countries. theHunter franchise was expanded in 2017 to also include premium title theHunter: Call of the Wild, which was released for PC and subsequently console platforms. Avalanche Studios, which is based in Stockholm, New York City and Malmö, was founded in 2003 by Christofer Sundberg and Linus Blomberg. The studio develops games using its proprietary Apex technology, enabling huge open worlds filled with emergent gameplay.We are looking for a passionate and highly creative Senior Environment Artist for our new studio in Malmö. As a Senior Environment Artist you will be tasked with crafting cutting edge game environments. The ideal candidate will have experience creating natural environments particularly vegetation and organic terrain. They should also have a broad experience in the discipline covering other areas such as hard surfaces, man made structures and props.The candidate must be a self starter who is capable of identifying what is needed to get the job done. They must feel comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team, who they will be working with to create astounding, beautiful open worlds. They will be expected to drive the quality benchmark for the discipline whilst managing their time to match the project's goals.This is a rare opportunity for the candidate who wants to play an instrumental role in a small but senior team, making high quality games. If you are a person who likes being challenged and stimulated in an ambitious and talented environment this position will suit you perfectly!The PositionAs an Environment Artist at Avalanche Studios you will collaborate in a small, interdisciplinary team to create art for our world and all of its components. We expect you to take your assets all the way from conceptual mockups through modeling and texturing to final placement in the environment. You will also be responsible for the final functionality of your assets, such as setup of destruction and environment animations. Required qualificationsExcellent modeling and texturing skills using Autodesk Maya and Adobe PhotoshopExperience with physically-based renderingA strong reel with clearly-documented artistic accomplishmentsA great sense of technical know-how and functional problem-solvingPassion for making and playing gamesDesired qualifications5+ years of AAA experience and with at least one open-world game shipped (or equivalent)Experience with ZbrushExperience with Allegorithmic Substance Designer or Painter.Experience with Quixel SuiteExperience with photogrammetric asset creation workflowsAbility to communicate and realize an artistic visionWe can offer you a varied job where you work closely with a fun and experienced team with extremely competent people in a highly specialized and unique development environment.
