The section Strategy & Advanced Engineering is responsible for delivering the engine and fuel strategy for VCC Engine program. We are also responsible for maintaining and controlling engine related research at our partner Universities. One of our key deliveries is to lead engine related advanced engineering and to lead section related technologies towards different engine programs in the concept phase. We are a team with an innovative spirit and a great experience of engine development in which the right candidate can further develop.
As Senior Engineer gas-exchange, Advanced Engineering you will work within advanced engineering on gas-exhange and charge air boosting of our next generation gasoline and diesel engines. Your target is to lead, initiate and perform investigations that will pave the way to improved charging efficiency and reduced pressure drop over induction and exhaust systems. You will also evaluate valve timing strategies and systems (variable and fixed) and evaluate EGR systems and flow. Moreover, an important part of your job is to investigate the potential of different installations, current and future technologies and methodologies and to determine the gas-exchange strategy in order to obtain certain performance, fuel consumption or emission targets. With this exciting task you work cross functional within engine engineering and powertrain, with both diesel and gasoline technologies hence you will have the opportunity to develop and maintain a broad engine knowledge and really contribute to a better environment and customer satisfaction.
Main responsibilities
• Advanced engineering of gas-exhange and boosting systems
• Strategy of future boosting systems
• Propose gas-exchange system solutions in order to obtain performance, fuel consumption and emission targets
• Evaluate gas-exchange systems for both gasoline and diesel ICEs
• Initiate and perform investigations for future charging/gas-exchange systems
• Participate in related projects at our University partners
• Communicate directly with engineers, lead engineers, experts and AE leaders
• Actively participate in Advanced engineering work and strategy thinking related to engine and engine design
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. including fluid mechanics
• Excellent skills in Matlab, GT-Power
• Experience from model based function development, preferable from the automotive industry
• At least 8 years work in relevant area of which at least 5 years with boosting systems
• Ability to conduct your own simulations to verify ideas and to enable efficient cooperation with other AE engineers in the area
• Experience and knowledge of advanced engineering, CFD, and project lead is meritorious
• PhD is meritorious
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
• Knowledge in German is an asset
• Driver's license (B-level)
