GKN Aerospace is the world's leading multi-technology tier 1 aerospace supplier. With 51 manufacturing locations in 14 countries, we serve over 90% of the world"s aircraft and engine manufacturers. We design and manufacture innovative smart aerospace systems and components. Every time you travel by air almost anywhere in the world, it is likely that GKN is helping you on your way.

We are looking for people who want to make a difference, talented members with the skills and passions to become the best of the future in what they do.
Job Summary
We are building knowledge for the future and we are building GKN for the future! Do you want to join us on that journey?
We need to push the limits for our products and to do that we need to push our thinking to the limits, with new designs and new methods. When we do that we need to master the physics in the harsh jet engine environment where our products acts. We and the industry we act in want to minimize the foot print on the environment our products make and when we push our thinking to the limits we add sustainability to all steps in our products life cycle.
Are you the one? The one with good knowledge in mechanical design and in computer simulations and want to explore these fields even more. We are eager for new influences and new way to do things. We want to giant leap in the automation of analysis and take advantage of all our existing data to do so.
We are looking for a curious and creative MSc engineer. Someone that is very interested in the "handcraft" but also after some years want to take leading role. Actually we are looking for two engineers, one more senior, perhaps with PhD degree, aiming for methods specialist in a few years, and one junior taking the long route learning all our different methods, one by one during a number of years, after a while also developing the methods.
You have probably already figured it out, the handcraft we are talking about is: Solid Mechanics topped with programming skills.
We have a number of Solid Mechanics method specialists (highly respected experts in the industry) in the following areas:
Fatigue Life (crack initiation and crack propagation)
Strength
Structural Dynamics
FE Analysis
Modeling of Analysis
Material and Data Testing
Process Simulation
Automation of Analysis
Heat Transfer

This list gives a good hint what we are looking for in your CV.
Last but not least: Additive Manufacturing is coming! It is a lot of details to master also for someone working with Solid Mechanics.
Here I just add some more key-words, except fro the one above that I look for in your CV: ANSYS, Python programming, Sustainable, Leadership, Aerospace, Curiosity, ANSYS WorkBench, Team Player, Optimization, SimCenter, Scrum, Innovations, Report Writing, Material Science, AI, Lean.
We all work in projects, it is a large variety of projects, from large product development projects to minor research project and product support projects. Often you belong to a multi-disciplinary team that together work towards the goals. We are striving to work according to the Scrum-philosophy including "Sprint planning".
Now to something else: today you can define our office as "vintage", charm in a way, but we see a need for a large face lift of our office buildings during 2022 and 2023. So if you join us quite soon you can be part of our working-group that sets up how our new modern office landscape will look like. I know it will look nice when it is done. We also have the possibility to work off-site (home) part of our working week. Right now we also execute a total upgrade of our computer monitors we are using for simulations. Twin 32 inches to all of us.
Another way to put the job ad: To develop, integrate, implement, and verify technical solutions and compliance documentation compliant with all relevant customer, regulatory, and airworthiness requirements, within agreed program, schedule, and manufacturing constraints.
Job Qualifications
You shall have a Master of Science degree, or higher, within the discipline of applied mechanics or something similar. It is definitely a advantage if you have experience as solid mechanics engineer within aerospace industry. I count that you know a lot about different Finite Element Methods. Programming skills is a must. In the end it is also about your way of working, do you master networking and team working. You should be able to track down the grammatical mistakes in this job advertisement without google translate and you shall be fluent in Swedish.
Great consideration will be given to your personal suitability for the position!
