The Electromobility organization is responsible for the complete development lifecycle from advanced engineering, through product development into the maintenance phase. We drive the transition from conventional powertrains to electromobility and secure a stepwise implementation in different segments/regions. This organization develops and drives the electromobility component/product portfolio for Trucks & Buses as well creating opportunities for all business areas within Volvo Group. Core responsibilities
We are now looking for Senior Engineer Electric Drive System to join Motor Drive System Design and Hardware team. In this position the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a proven capability and experience in design and development roles as well as experience from integration of the electric drive system technology in electric and hybrid power trains. The main responsibilities will be to:

• Provide the Volvo Group with technical support and expertise within your competence area i.e. electric machines and drives technology
• Provide technical leadership for projects incorporating complex electromechanical ("Mechatronic") systems
• Understand and create system and subsystem/components specifications
• Lead technical dialog with suppliers and partners
• Plan and Participate in verification and testing activities for systems and sub-systems
• Stays abreast with new technology

We are looking for someone who thrives on finding solutions to highly complex challenges, never afraid to try out new ideas in search of innovation and takes ownership in delivering outstanding products. To fit in our team culture you need to be a team player who fosters a dynamic environment and accelerates learning in others. You qualify if you have:

• PhD in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in electric machines or power electronics with at least 3 years of experience
• Experience with design and analysis of electric machines and sensors specifically related to vehicle drive systems - including machine design, inverters, and battery systems
• Strong knowledge of simulation tools (e.g. Maxwell, Matlab/Simulink)
• General competency in all core fields (electronics, electromagnetics)
• Background in automotive propulsion engineering
• Excellent problem solving techniques
• Knowledge of system synthesis, analysis and verification techniques
• Good organization and documentation abilitiesAbility to manage & support multiple activities (time management skills)
