• Define system requirements and test specifications;
• Design, build, test and certify the electrical power systems within the Wave Energy Converters and wave farms including generators, drives, control, energy storage, power distribution, subsea-connection and power transmission.
• Participate in cross-functional development work together with software, mechanical, systems and control teams.
• Create drawings, BOMs, manuals, test reports, FMECA, systems documentation;
• Drive efficient development and testing methodology in the electrical engineering team;
• Manage the power system activities to meet performance, schedule and budget targets;
• Component selection and supplier relations;
• Supporting pilot installations in the field;
Skills and qualifications
You have a minimum of 10 years of relevant background from developing electrical systems for industrial applications with a track record of successfully taking new products through planning, designing, manufacturing and commercialization. You have a broad technical knowledge and genuine interest in the different aspects of machinery and electrical design. You have experience from leading projects through planning, designing, manufacturing and deploying industrial equipment in relevant sectors. You may have an advanced degree in a related discipline, but your personality, experience and passion for the field is the most important. You are proficient in English, both spoken and written.
Experience in the following areas is qualifying:
• Motor/generator control, including complex drive trains and test systems;
• Cable and connectors for high-reliability applications (Sub-sea & machine internal);
• Energy storage systems (supercapacitors, batteries);
• Power distribution for critical machine systems;
• Design, production and verification of cabinet-based low voltage, and medium voltage systems (<11kV);
• Marine or other high-reliability electrical systems;
• Multi-national grid compliance, validation and testing;
• Design of offshore wind power systems or similar sectors;
• Electromechanical, power electronics, and power systems simulation;
