The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of leading and developing teams of scientists that have successfully developed robust products using molecular-based technologies. The candidate must combine impressive technical leadership, excellence in people management, a strong drive for making great products, and commitment to the highest standards of program execution. This person needs to be a strategic thinker on both technology and product development. This position will interact closely with senior R&D leadership at our Pleasanton HQ.
What you will be doing:
Lead the R&D team in Stockholm, working on assay development, sample preparation, computational biology, and related technologies across multiple product lines
Establish and maintain the necessary team structures, processes, infrastructure and environment to drive development of 10x Genomics technology platforms
Recruit top talent to build out group across multiple technical areas
Articulate and execute on strategic plans for technology/infrastructure development in key technical areas
Provide mentorship and guidance to employees
Provide technical guidance and insights to group members on challenging problems
Work with R&D leadership at Pleasanton HQ to develop product and technology roadmaps, and to structure teams between Stockholm and other R&D sites
Work closely with leaders of R&D departments at Pleasanton HQ to help develop efficient processes for product development as the company and product portfolio grows
Develop detailed resourcing and budget plans across multiple projects and efforts
To be successful in this role, you will need:
PhD or proven, significant depth of experience in molecular biology, biotechnology, genomics, or a similar field
Experience managing large teams (>15) of scientists from a variety of backgrounds
Experience developing commercial products
A strong desire to build game-changing technologies and impact the world of life science research
Strong leadership and organizational skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced and quickly changing environment
