A degree in PhD or MSc in relevant field of science
10+ years experience from R&D; within the battery industry
Operational R&D; experience in high tech required
R&D; experience from battery manufacturing
Successful track record of scaling business and leading teams in a fast growing environment ideally in the manufacturing industry
Curious, technically educated and with a strong business/leadership background
Must have worked in multi-cultural environment
Specific Skills/Abilities
Excellent English written and oral skills, Swedish and/or Japanese is a plus
Highly organized and result-driven
Exceptionally good negotiation and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under high pressure and tight deadlines, excellent time management
Ability to work well with others in a team environment, as well as independently
Ability to work in a high profile and often high pressured international environment

Northvolt has an exciting job offer for an experienced leader to be part of building our R & D team, scaling over the next few years.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society.
The Senior Director of R & D (Cell Design) will be in charge of evaluating technologies and build technology roadmaps. You will work across all functions in the the R & D team to create a platform to build and drive our R & D agenda. You will be in charge of setting up and executing the long term R & D plans reporting to the Chief Development Officer. You will also be working closely with the Business Development team to understand customer demands, as well as with Quality and Procurement.
In general you have a long experience in the R & D field and have been driving large, innovative and challenging high tech projects.
Specifically, you have a deep understanding of working with R & D within the battery industry.

Northvolt is building the largest lithium-ion battery factory in Europe.
