The newly opened Uppsala office works with R&D projects related to the core infrastructure to ensure that Klarna stays ahead of the fierce competition. Our main system is written in Erlang but the Uppsala team will mainly build new components based in other technologies. Currently we are looking over the data flows, storage and analysis to improve the way Klarna can utilize the large amounts of data collected throughout the organization. Other topics include distributed data replication, streaming database analysis and the impact of how different ways of choosing what to sacrifice in the CAP theorem influence different parts of our platform.

Your work as a senior developer is to take part in the entire development process, from gathering requirements to delivery. The challenge is to provide solutions that scale. The team members have a high technical level and are expected to work independently within the team to solve complex problems, from analyzing the problem to designing, planning and implementing the solutions.

We always select an appropriate toolkit depending on the problem at hand, hence it is not vital that you have worked before with exactly the tools we already use. We want a diverse palette of skills in the team and we are sure that this is a place where you will be challenged in many different ways.

To be successful in this role you have 10 years experience of high quality software development, an MSc in Computer Science and experience from test driven development and agile methods. You have gathered knowledge from many different domains and programming paradigms during your career. We are looking for developers who have a deep understanding of algorithms, data structures and complexity up to and beyond programming language implementation and semantics.
