The position is at Department 86190 within Global Product Development at Volvo Bus Corporation. The department is global design responsible for Body in White & Chassis Frames and Component Installation and also for Strength Analysis & Testing.
Body in White & Chassis Frame Design Team
The team is globally responsible for the main structural system of our complete range of complete vehicle and chassis products. The team is truly global with members at all VBC Development sites, totally about 40 designers across the world, 19 of these located in our Gothenburg office.
Our operations can be broken down to advanced engineering activities, platform and product development, product maintenance, customer adaptations and quality. The team also hold applying specialist knowledge within welding, metallic materials, cost engineering, corrosion protection and sandwich design to support our operations.
Challenges and rewards
You will within shortly take on the path for one of the front positions in our team and in this you will find yourself challenged with taking the lead in design teams and by taking a proactive stand in our technology development and application of this to products. You will be trusted with great freedom with target focus and high expectations of delivery. We work very integrated with other functions next to our area, as well as more distant, whereby communication and holistic viewpoint is essential.
Requested education and experience
Experience from automotive design, preferably heavy vehicles.
Good general experience base, but on top of this, knowledge in one or more of our fields of expertise areas mentioned above.
Knowledge on manufacturing processes relevant to structural systems of heavy vehicles.
Fresh knowledge of 3D CAD software and Product Data Management systems, preferably Catia V5 and KOLA.
University Degree or Technical College Graduate in Engineering or extensive and adequate experience.
Personal qualifications
Ability to generate good ideas and to realize them together with of our team.
Proactive approach in general, taking responsibility of issues and delivering results.
Good ability to work self-governed as well as to cooperate with colleagues.
A desire to constantly develop yourself, your colleagues and the company you are working for.
Good technical and human leadership skills and very good communicative skills.
Good ability to express yourself in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work in a truly multicultural environment, additional language skills appreciated.
General information:
The position will be located in VBC offices in Arendal, Gothenburg, Sweden.
