WHY WE WILL LOVE YOU
It is a great time to be in Experience Design at IKEA!
Guided by our motivation to create a better everyday life for the many people, we are driving human-centered-design into all areas of the organization to put the customer and co-worker at the center of everything we do. Our ambition is to create the best-in-class digital experience for customers and co-workers alike, constantly listening and learning from them, creating those experiences with them, iterating and improving in perpetuity.
Design Operations is a strategic function within Experience Design. It's a brand new discipline at IKEA, and a vastly important one in our exciting journey to design maturity. We partner with design leadership, designers, researcher and the product organization to create alignment and consistency across Digital, raising the bar for how we operate in order to maximize the impact of design. We remove roadblocks, create clarity in ways of working, ensure engagement and facilitate growth of collective and individual skills.
As a producer within the DesignOps team, you'll get the unique opportunity to get in on the ground floor of a new capability area. The Design Operations team is a group of proactive doers who like to get stuff done. Your work here will have a lasting influence and impact on the Experience Design organization.
SKILLS YOU'LL NEED TO EXCEL IN THIS ROLE
We are looking for a well-rounded and experienced design professional with demonstrated skills in design thinking and organizational maturity who is enthusiastic about building out and developing our Design Operations capability area.
MUST have skills - Skills you'll need to bring with you
Project management - You can independently break down a project or initiative into smaller parts and identify the critical path. You align multiple stakeholders such as designers, researchers, engineers, managers and business partners on a common objective. You can plan, monitor and control multiple projects with different timelines simultaneously

Facilitation. You are confident in facilitating workshops, conducting interviews and leading diverse audiences through different processes such as ideation, prototyping and decision making.

Business thinking. You always strive to understand the business context behind a problem and connect it to how it relates to individuals and groups of stakeholders. Your recommendations and decisions are made not only from the impact on the users of the solution but also reflect the impact on the business (such as dependencies, cost, risk).

EXPERIENCE - Areas of expertise, tools and methods that you should have
You fundamentally understand the principles of Design Thinking and how to achieve change through Human Centered Design. You have end-to-end experience with the entire design process from Discover & Explore to Develop & Deliver.
You have a thorough understanding of the ways of working and challenges experienced by designers in agile product teams.
You have experience in software for management of projects and tasks such as Jira (or similar such as Monday or Asana)
Experience from creating and/or establishing frameworks, processes, guidelines and working/communication standards to scale and elevate a team or function
You are a DOER and like to make things happen.
We assume that you have at least 4-5 years of professional experience. Your background might be in product or UX design, as product owner, service designer or management consultant, but we can envision a range of suitable backgrounds for this role. Let us know how you are fit for this role and for the challenge at hand!

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
No two months are going to be the exact same. Your work will vary as we evolve, scale and mature our operations across the Experience Design team but the role will always include:
Supporting one of the 7 teams within Experience Design (XD) with their team-specific priorities within organizational maturity. You'd be working closely with said team approximately 50-80% with your remaining hours dedicated to DesignOps development work and operational tasks.
Establishing and maintaining team specific rituals and ways of working as well as following up on tasks and projects within the XD team you are aligned with
Facilitating workshops such as ideation, prioritization sessions and retrospectives
Supporting managers within the specific XD team with keeping a pulse on team engagement. Running activities to ensure team health and employee engagement, e.g. facilitating team building activities, organizing team events and developing onboarding information and rituals
Identifying organizational needs within the specific XD team for tools, ways of working, upskilling/learning opportunities or other organizational maturity needs - helping the team to package and communicate their needs to DesignOps
Supporting your specific XD team and DesignOps with implementing common structures and tools such as Jira for task management, skills framework, onboarding practices, design toolbox etc.
Delivering quick wins as well as being involved in strategic initiatives and pilots to achieve change throughout the organization.
Being an advocate and role-model for Design Thinking and Organizational maturity - inspiring, mentoring and developing team members ranging in expertise and seniority

ABOUT THE TEAM
You'd be joining a growing team of Design Operations producers, currently located in the south of Sweden/Denmark and Amsterdam.
We are a team of open-minded, warm and down-to-earth folks. There's a lot of love for food in the team as well as literature and DIY. We are really looking forward to growing our team and excited to see how the team dynamics will evolve when you join!
