Zettle is seeking a senior product design leader to join our Platforms alliance, with a strong track record in leading design across multiple cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment. Bringing sharp strategic thinking combined with deep craft knowledge, systems mindset, and a faultless adherence customer centricity.

In the Platforms Alliance it is our mission to provide the internal products and capabilities that enable our customers - that is Zettle & PayPal teams - to get work done at scale, and achieve company goals with speed and quality.

We do this by owning, maintaining and evolving a number of platforms with varied and complex scopes. We are seven teams working to drive towards our mission including the design system team, back office platform, apps platform, platform services, data platform TLS and backend platform.

Whilst it will be your focus to evolve the platforms model at Zettle along with your Tech and Product alliance leaders, your primary focus will be the teams where design is currently embedded (the design system team, back office platform, apps platform) and continuing to build on the potential of design as a platform.
Your focus will be on 3 main areas...

Drive the design vision and strategy across the Platforms Alliance
Think strategically and articulate that strategy with clarity.
Set context ensuring people know how their work fits into the big picture (Missions, goals, constraints)
Instill best practices of user centricity and product mindedness across the alliance. Look for opportunities to use design as a strategic advantage.
Drive the evolution of our product design language marrying brand experience and utility into everyday experiences that out merchant's love.
Foster a culture of fast feedback and critique
Make data driven decisions
Represent design at executive level


Create and empower a professional design discipline.
Set clear expectations for individuals and teams
Consistently raise the bar by recruiting and retaining top talent
Ensure that the designers have the means and environment to do their best work.
Provide line management to the designers in the alliance, support them in their development and in strengthening the design chapter
Empower the designers in your organization to work effectively and get things done by building great teams able to adapt to meet changing needs.
Promotes the work of "One Team" and provides visibility for the team with senior leadership

Collaborate & define cross-company design processes.
Collaborate with internal customers, partners and stakeholders to understand their needs. To ensure that within the platforms alliance we spend time on building the right things, right.
Identify, understand and close gaps in talent, knowledge, processes, tools for the platforms alliance
Coordinate and influence across the organizational lines - increasing the accountability of the Platform Alliance to achieve outcomes.


The Senior design leader for the Platforms Alliance forms, together with the Tech and Product Alliance leads, the leadership for the Alliance. In this capacity you are jointly responsible for:
Setting the platform vision for the Zettle product development organisation
Setting goals together with each area, and providing the means and guidance needed for reaching them
Providing clear missions and expected outcomes in relation to overall strategy
Providing regular feedback on area priorities and solutions
Encouraging the areas to continuously learn and improve


To succeed in the role, we believe you have the following skills
A passionate and visionary design leader with a solid experience of leading designers across multiple teams in a high-paced and agile environment. Hands on when needed.
You know how to empower designers to create best in class, branded experiences for our customers.
A visionary communicator, yet improvement-driven and able to set a context that leads to tangible outcomes.
You thrive in organizations with a large portion of ambiguity helping others to navigate this and find a clear path through.
You are a change manager - Capable of adjusting teams to meet shifting priorities or focus
A systems thinker - able to view complex problems holistically and find opportunities in non-obvious connections.
