Chassis Systems and Control is part of the Hardware unit within Product and Quality at Volvo Car Group. We are passionate in developing technology that enables Volvo Car Group to fulfil its aggressive targets to be the leader in the areas of Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety.
At Volvo Cars Product and Quality our mission is to develop wheel suspensions that enable premium level ride comfort, handling and road noise isolation. Kinematic packaging, durability and cost/weight efficiency are some of the challenges we face. We co-operate with a wide range of internal partners, such as vehicle dynamics, NVH, durability, manufacturing engineering and others. Our supplier base is worldwide, from local Swedish to Chinese.
We are looking for a dedicated component subject matter expert with deep knowledge of dampers for one of our wheel suspension teams. You will have the overall responsiblity for dampers - active and passive - and expected to provide technical expertise as well as future strategies.
We believe you should be a strong leader and have a passion for leading a cross-functional team in an international environment along with global suppliers. You will have to build and maintain a network of subject matter experts across the company to secure correct status in the many aspects of a car environment. You will work closely with e.g. SW team, NVH, Vehicle Dynamics, Strength & Durability centre and teams responsible for surrounding components.
Main Responsibilities
* Technically responsible for dampers - active and passive
* Support team members in design reviews and technical question concerning dampers in running programs
* Secure mutual agreement with other systems and functions needed to provide total function
* Handle supplier contacts and be active in sourcing activities from an engineering perspective
* Lead the strategy work for dampers in future programmes
* Contribute in drawing up strategies to ensure Volvo's position as a leader in the fields of Vehicle Dynamics and Active Safety
* Support delivery within agreed time/cost/technic frames throughout all development phases of a car project
Possibilities of Development
As senior design engineer you will be main responsible for the future strategies concerning dampers. In this position you will continue develop your leadership competencies, continue to build on your technical skills, as well as building and maintaining a network that includes people from all areas in the company.

Minumum Qualifications
* MSc or BSc in Mechatronics, Mechanical engineering or similar.
* Experience with Product Development Process
* Fluent in English (written and spoken)
* Driver's license B or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
* Experience with design or testing within Volvo Cars is an advantage
* Experience with chassis and wheel suspension systems and specifically tuning parts is an advantage
* 3-5 years of Automotive experience
