Develop self-driving vehicles

Are you passionate about designing and implementing deep learning and AI algorithms for autonomous driving? Are you passionate about using academic knowledge and coding skills to solve real-world problems? Do you possess a strong technical background and thrive in a dynamic work environment? The autonomous department in Scania R&D is seeking a talented and motivated Deep-learning Algorithm Engineer to join the AI Technologies group. You play a crucial role in designing, developing, and maintaining our machine-learning algorithms.

The AI algorithm team focuses on designing and implementing Deep Neural Network (DNN) algorithms for our autonomous driving prototype vehicles. As a part of this role, you will:
* Design, train, and implement DNN algorithms for different tasks for self-driving vehicles.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and design optimal models.
* Stay up to date with the very growing field of AI.
* Work with a collaborative and agile team in industrial research and pre-development of Scania.

Your profile

We believe to succeed in this role you have:
* Solid theoretical and coding deep-learning background.
* Minimum 3 years of experience in industry in the deep-learning area or equivalent experience in a research environment.
* Solid Python and deep-learning coding skills (Pytorch or Tensorflow) and proven hands-on experience.
* Master's or Ph.D. in computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or related areas.
* Theoretical knowledge is required but being able to work practically and deliver in an applied industrial research environment is also very important.
* Strong communication, and collaboration abilities, being humble.
* Passion for working in a very fast-paced technology area and an industrial research and predevelopment setup.

The following are not required but are nice to have:
* Experience and familiarity with Transformers, computer vision, foundation models and generative AI, and unsupervised learning.
* Record of publishing in top conferences in deep learning and pattern recognition, e.g. CVPR, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, etc.
* Experience working with cloud.
* Experience with C++.
