Scania is currently undergoing an exciting transformation from a traditional truck manufacturer to a provider of complete sustainable transport solutions. IT is a crucial part of this transformation as Scania's success is depending on flexible and efficient IT solutions that support current and future business requirements.

The Group Linux, Web & DB Platform Development for Infrastructure Delivery (IUAL) owns and maintains the Managed Services and Platforms used by delivery teams throughout the organisation in provisioning of solutions to the Scania business functions. These services provide application teams with the infrastructural components to develop and install applications for business use. The components part of the groups responsibility include Operating System, Databases and Web application platforms.

To meet the requirements and demands from Scania's business functions while in parallel new exciting technologies are coming on the market, we need to strengthen the Platform Development Group with a Senior Database Expert with focus on Oracle RDBMS who will work with our IT architects, Service Owners and internal customers to secure development, management and control for our current and future infrastructural services.

Scania's Oracle implementations run mainly on Red Hat Linux and include our most business critical systems.

Your tasks
You will have the overall technical responsibility for all our Oracle Platforms at the infrastructural and database administrator level, and will secure the strategy, development and implementation of technical roadmaps, deployment process and quality of delivery. In this work you will work together with a cross-functional team of other experts, Service Owners and architects. As we have a focus to rapidly expand in Open Source Solutions, you will be a key player in assessing new service options, design of new database services and migration opportunities.

You will be placed in a dynamic, challenging international environment with opportunities for development in provider coordination, new technologies and new ways of working.

Your work amongst other will cover:

• Secure uptime, performance, supportability and security of our Oracle based implementations and associated management tools
• Have full overview of our Oracle infrastructure, propose developments and improvements on our existing services, considering licenses, infrastructure consumption and capacity management
• Optimize Oracle patching and automation of standardized deployments
• Take technical ownership for initiation and design of new RDBMS services such as MySQL, PostgreSQL and NoSQL products such as MongoDB and Cassandra.
• Documentation of designs and setups, to facilitate knowledge sharing and understanding.
• Work with 3rd party Managed Services providers, both on- and off-shore
• Collaborate with VW and VW Group companies around database standards and strategies for the Group
• Occasional involvement in resolution of major incidents affecting our business if such is desired

Your profile
You have a relevant academic education or equivalent work experience in the area of work, in-depth knowledge of Oracle RDBMS, tools and products and experience in management of large scale Oracle infrastructures.

Preferably you will have experience from other Database products and migrations, especially with regards to Open Source products and have a genuine interest in new technologies. You likely have worked as a database administrator or technical responsible. Having experience of Agile working is considered a benefit.

You are a team-player, structured, customer oriented with good communication skills, proactive, take initiative and ownership, and have the drive to move our services forward.

You are fluent in Swedish and English, both oral and writing.
