The current organization "Data Operations & Transformation" is newly formed and as such you will have a unique opportunity to join the journey from the start and be a part of our transformation journey.
What you'll do
We are migrating our existing data warehouse solution to our new Data Management Platform, to further enhance our capabilities to support Volvo Cars to become a data driven company. Due to this we are strengthening our team with one of our strategic roles, Senior Data Engineer.
As a Senior Data Engineer you will lay down the foundation of a database/s and its architecture. You assess a wide range of requirements and apply relevant database techniques to create a robust architecture. You will also be supporting product teams during the implementation process. After periodic intervals, you also carry out testing to identify any bugs or performance issues.
As a Senior Data Engineer you are also tasked with maintaining the database/s and ensuring that it works smoothly without causing any disruption. When a database stop working, it brings a halt to the associated IT infrastructure. Your expertise is especially needed to manage large-scale processing systems where performance and scalability issues need continuous maintenance.
Furthermore, your expertise will be needed to support the data science team by constructing dataset procedures that can help with data mining, modeling, and production. In this way, your participation is crucial in enhancing the quality of data.
You and your skills
We expect that you have bachelor or master's degree in Information and/or Data management. To meet expectations and to be successful in this role, you have minimum of 5 years from working as a Data Engineer or similar.
We also believe that following skills are crucial for the role:
SQL
You cannot manage a relational database management system without mastering SQL.
Data Warehousing
Ability to aggregate unstructured data, collected from multiple sources. It is then compared and assessed to improve the efficiency of business operations.
Data Architecture
Knowledge and experience in building complex database systems for businesses. You are required to work close with different stakeholders to understand current data in motion, data at rest, datasets, and the relationship between data-dependent processes and applications.
Snowflake
Knowledge In Snowflake, the cloud computing-based data warehousing solution.
WhereScape
Knowledge in the data warehouse automation tool called WhereScape.
Who we 're looking for

You enjoy working with others and are a true collaborator.
Your language skills in English are excellent, both written and spoken.
Experience of Agile processes (Scrum, SaFe or similar) are in your favor.
