Senior Cost Specialist
We are looking for a Senior Cost Specialist within our Purchasing Team at the earliest date possible. The position is based in Gothenburg, Sweden and you will report to the Purchasing Manager - Cost Management Team, currently located in Hallbergmoos.
Area of Responsibility
• Support Design to Cost optimizations for projects in early development or concept phase, ensure optimized choice of technology, materials and manufacturing process, consider KA suppliers manufacturing capabilities
• Support Project Purchasing and Sales with quick cost estimates in the Define and Quote phase - 1st offer to the customer
• Support Project Purchasing with Cost Model targets for the supplier awarding process (SBA phase), detailed analysis of CBDs from supplier vs. KA Cost Model breakdowns, active support in the negotiations with the suppliers targeted for sourcing
• Facilitate cost calculation of parts in production to support meeting purchasing cost saving target or mitigate price increase risks
• Support change management process, verify new price and ensure accuracy in quote from supplier
• Contribute to the make or buy decision making process, providing true cost analysis upon request from project management which also includes in- or out-sourcing cases
• Assist Project buyers with part price calculation upon request
• Cost technical advice regarding alternative technical solutions during the development phase
• Identify parts with cost saving opportunities together with Business Area purchasing operations
• Manage and take lead for supplier negotiation (in close contact with operation / commodity buyer)
• Support VSM and VA/VE activities at supplier to optimize cost
Furthermore, the Senior Cost Specialist will be responsible for the following activities for assigned commodities:
• Identify saving opportunities on running parts and execute supplier negotiation, need to be agreed between cost estimator and commodity buyer case by case
• Perform cost breakdown analyses of supplier prices / quotes
• Calculate part cost in the calculation software tool TCPCM and compare to price quoted by supplier or to actual price in system
• Support the development of Cost Model Calculation know-how and tools for additional commodities
• Increase the data library in the Siemens TPCM calculation software (machines master data, raw materials etc.)
• Work on establishing a standard process and standard input templates to support the cost model calculation analysis
• Propose standard input on the components drawings to support the cost model calculation analysis
• Support the evaluation and the commercial impact of engineering changes
• Initiate changes in the manufacturing process or changes on the components (VAVE/VSM)
• Perform and manage cost reviews or audits at suppliers and ensure implementation of findings, attend R&R for key projects to verify assumptions made in the cost calculations and supplier CBDs
• Support R&D in early phase to secure design to cost
• Meticulous reporting discipline and work transparency
• Cost Model Knowledge Sharing - education of the purchasing community about cost drivers in the different commodities
Candidate Profile
• BSc degree in engineering or similar / Master's degree is a plus, or alternatively education with several years of professional experience from manufacturing, production engineering or product development
• Minimum five years costing and purchasing experience in an automotive environment
• Excellent knowledge in manufacturing processes for assigned commodities
• Good knowledge in tooling and dies and checking fixture
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills
• Strong cost consciousness
• Analytical and structured
• English (oral and written) fluent, one extra KA language
• Will Need to Travel Globally to meet goals / objectives of this position, up to 30 %
• PC skills / MS Office programs
