We are now recruiting a Senior Communications Officer to support the secretariat for the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT). LeadIT gathers countries and companies that are committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions from industry by 2050. It was launched by the Governments of Sweden and India at the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019 and SEI serves as LeadIT's Secretariat.

Length of contract: 2 years with possibility of extension

SEI HQ is a dynamic and expanding workplace that employs around 110 people from 28 different nationalities in an activity-based office in central Stockholm (Garnisonen), with an additional 200 employees in centres around the world.
The role
We are now recruiting a Senior Communications Officer to support the secretariat for the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT). LeadIT gathers countries and companies that are committed to reaching net-zero carbon emissions from industry by 2050. It was launched by the governments of Sweden and India at the UN Climate Action Summit in September 2019 and SEI serves as LeadIT's Secretariat.
Key duties and responsibilities
Develop and implement a communication plan based on the project theory of change and work plan
Produce high-quality, innovative outputs that drive strategic outcomes
Develop a strong social media presence, including establishing a new Twitter account
Manage and develop content for LeadIT website
Coordinate with LeadIT members to produce blog posts, op-eds and press releases on relevant news
Market LeadIT work to potential new members
Improve SEO and website usability for more positive user experience
Grow LeadIT newsletter engagement and audience
Develop ideas and commission strategic promotion products, especially for Tracker and interactive online tools, graphics and videos
Support LeadIT researchers in producing briefs, developing and commissioning videos
Support events and summits
Lead COP26 communications and coordination of media outreach with partners
Support the Head of LeadIT Secretariat and the Partnership Lead in liaising with partners and stakeholders, as well as coordinate with stakeholder communications departments to align on narrative frameworks and timelines
Monitor and evaluate indicators of communication outputs
Lead work of communications assistant working with LeadIT
Take initiative in developing skills and finding synergies between different fields of communication and research areas.

Formal qualifications and knowledge
Degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or other relevant degree
At least eight years of experience in marketing, communications and or journalism
Excellent written English skills
Strong project management skills
Experience with digital communications (CMS, social media) and communication technologies and practices
Knowledge and expertise in the field of at least one of the following topics: heavy industry, energy sector, just transition, environmental policy, climate mitigation and/or inter-governmental communications.

Personal skills required
Strong leadership, interpersonal, diplomatic and communication skills and ability to network within the research area/policy arena of expertise
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Ability to set priorities under pressure
Strong team player
Ability to act as role model conveying core values of SEI in everyday duties, including importance of high-calibre work, flexibility, respect and trust
Strong negotiation skills.

Desirable skills
Swedish language skills.
