The Boeing Digital Aviation Solutions (DAS) Cloud Security Architect will focus on supporting the cloud migration, adoption and maturation initiatives in the Digital Aviation Solutions business organization within Boeing Global Services. The person in this role is a player-coach, who builds awareness, increases knowledge and drives adoption of cloud technologies, sharing consumer and technical benefits to gain buy-in. They will apply system architecture and cloud security concepts and techniques to facilitate major technical decisions expressed in technical vision, strategy, and system architecture. They must have a technical background with experience in building and operating high quality and secure software at-scale into a 24x7 global, multi-cloud, SaaS environment. They are a good communicator and an influencer, comfortable speaking to CxOs, senior executives, and a diverse audience of software engineers, and product managers. They make data driven decisions to drive their day to day work and act as a mentor for other technologists when necessary. They understand the challenges of organizational change and the nuances of adopting new technology and development practices.
Position Responsibilities:
• Defines or verifies requirements, architecture, designs and plans from a security perspective for all applications migrating and optimizing in the cloud
• Prepares initial design constraints and ensures architecture conforms to cloud migration requirements and production operations requirements. Production operations requirements include alerting, monitoring, high availability, disaster recovery, continuous integration, deployment (CICD), operations and information security.
• Develops and maintains architecture views, models and other required documentation. Contributes to the definition of architecture principles, guidelines, patterns, standards, etc. for the cloud security scope and scaling.
• Collaborates with stakeholders, software architects, and DevOps teams to design and implement security solutions for cloud-based systems across multiple cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Develops and maintains a comprehensive understanding of the organization's cloud infrastructure, applications, and data flows.
• Designs, develops and implements secure patterns to aid the transformation of our estate to cloud first.
• Promotes and scales cloud excellence and automation, using opportunities to reuse and inner-source solutions where possible.
• Leads security awareness training and education initiatives to ensure developers and application teams are familiar and competent in secure-by-design methodologies.
• Stays up-to-date with emerging cloud security threats, vulnerabilities, and best practices, and applies this knowledge to continuously enhance our security strategies.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
• 7+ years of experience and education in web application development and operations
• 5+ years of experience in automated provisioning and configuring of software-defined infrastructure and designing for continuous deployment and continuous operations
• 5+ years of experience in security domain, e.g. defining penetration testing, architecting product security posture
• 5+ years of experience automating operations with Terraform, Kubernetes
• 3+ years of experience in AWS or Azure and scaling monolithic and microservice-oriented production applications
• Proven experience to research, advise, compare and recommend technology solutions; ability to demonstrate and maintain method of keeping current on new technologies
• Proven experience designing and implementing security solutions for cloud-based systems, including IAM, network security, data protection, and compliance.
• Strong understanding of cloud security best practices, encryption, authentication, authorization, and audit capabilities.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, ISO 27001) and their application in cloud environments.
• Experience with security assessment tools, vulnerability management, and penetration testing methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills to articulate complex security concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Fluency in both spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
• Amazon Web Services, Azure Cloud Solutions Architect Certification - Associates or other related certifications
• Strong interpersonal, communication and organization skills
• Experience with enabling an organization centric targeted to business outcomes
• Ability to inspire and lead
• Relevant certifications such as Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or cloud platform-specific certifications are a plus.
• 10+ years of experience and education in web application development and operations
• 7+ years of experience in automated provisioning and configuring of software-defined infrastructure and designing for continuous deployment and continuous operations
• 7+ years of experience in security domain, e.g. defining penetration testing, architecting product security posture
• 7+ years of experience automating operations with Terraform, Kubernetes
• 5+ years of experience in AWS or Azure and scaling monolithic and microservice-oriented production applications
