During operation, system modifications or new construction of nuclear reactors, a good knowledge of a variety of chemistry-related issues is required. It can cover the reactor's water chemistry and its impact on construction materials and nuclear fuel or the distribution of radioactivity through the coolant in the reactor systems. It can also involve material investigations such as developing suitable material choices for various applications or investigations into chemical limit values or purity issues.
Basic theoretical knowledge of chemical processes of relevance in the nuclear power context, such as solution chemistry, radiolysis and hydrogen production, physical chemistry, material degradation and chemical process and apparatus technology are important for a number of current issues in the nuclear power field. The tasks include both shorter investigations and longer studies of an R&D nature.
We are looking for a chemical engineer or equivalent with technical college or university education such as civil engineering, technical/philosophy doctor or equivalent in chemistry. Experience from the industry is advantageous. Furthermore, the applicant needs to have good analytical skills and the ability to work independently and needs to be thorough and systematic in his work. The position also requires good communication and cooperation skills in the dialogue with customers and colleagues. Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written, is a prerequisite.
The applicant must also have the interest and capacity to expand beyond their original area of expertise.
