Senior CAE Engineer/Task leader Durability Body & Trim

The CAE Durability Body & Trim is one of the two CAE teams within the department of Durability. The department is responsible for the attributes Strength & Endurance, Corrosion, Retained Newness and Fire Safety. The responsibility includes target setting, CAE, testing in laboratory and on proving ground.The CAE Durability Body & Trim team performs strength and fatigue analyses for the design areas Body, Exterior and Interior, mainly in the development phase in new car projects. In parallel with the work in car projects, method development is performed to enhance the CAE capability.

We are looking for a Senior CAE Engineer/Task leader Durability Body & Trim who wants to work and develop in car projects by a combination of performing CAE analyses and acting as a task leader. Depending on project phase the work split may vary from 25/75 CAE work contra task leading to 75/25. You have strong focus on deliverables, you can work independently and you will develop your own and the team's skills within the CAE area. The tasks vary from component and system analyses to full car simulations. As a task leader you are responsible for prioritising among tasks, planning the work for CAE engineers, approving reports and expected to supervise collegues and discuss choice of methods. You are also as an CAE engineer responsible for gathering necessary background information, modelling, performing analyses and making recommendations to design engineers.

Main responsibilities
• Prioritising among the tasks and planning the work for 4-8 CAE engineers
• Supervise colleagues both in CAE technical questions and how to interpreted results
• Perform CAE analyses including gather information, build Finite Element models, set up simulations, draw conclusions, write reports and presents results
• Support the design engineers with recommendations

Required qualifications
• Experience of industrial application of Finite Element methods
• MSc in mechanical, civil engineering or similar
• Good knowledge in mechanics and dynamics and/or strength of materials corresponding to master level courses
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Knowledge of product development process at VCC is meritorious
• Experience of FE simulations of car body and trim is meritorious
• Experience of the FE tools ANSA, Nastran, ABAQUS and LS Dyna is meritorious

• Ability to both work independently and in teams
• Very good communication skills
