At Purchasing, you are part of a global team with the mission to develop and maintain a world-class supplier base. Ensuring the supply of materials and services - at the right cost, quality and technology - is essential for the success of Volvo Car Group. Ultimately, it's all about cooperating with people inside and outside the company to create a superior experience for the people who buy and drive a Volvo.
The group Indirect Purchasing (IDP) is responsible for the purchasing of all non-production materials and services to all our staff and plants. We are now looking for one Senior Buyer and one Buyer to the Machinery Europe Team.
As a Senior Buyer/Buyer you will lead the major sourcing of machinery equipment to our car plants in Europe (production lines, paint shops, conveyer systems, etc). Large investments are planned for the coming years. The suppliers are global and the stakeholders are situated in both Sweden and Belgium. You will also cooperate with the IDP buyers in China and US to find the best global sourcing synergies. It is therefore important that you have a good holistic understanding, a strategic view and ability to cooperate in an international environment.
Main responsibilities
• Obtain best commercial outcome for Volvo Car Group specific to your commodities
• Develop global sourcing synergies and best practices for purchasing
• Participate in major RFQs
• Lead negotiator on major contracts
• Define and maintain CBP (Commodity Business Plan) on assigned global commodities, including implementation and follow-up
• Develop relationships with global key suppliers to ensure best pricing, quality and delivery
• Ensure the market intelligence and the technical trends for your commodities
• Validate new supplier introduction
• Lead special task force assignments
Required qualifications
• Economic or Technical university degree or equivalent
• Strategic understanding and thinking and ability to put them in practice
• Excellent communication skills (written and oral) in English
• Studies with focus on Entrepreneurship, Business Development, Business Analytics with commercial focus is meritorious
• Experience from a Senior Buyer role and/or various kinds of negotiation experience from leading projects is an advantage
• Experience from negotiations in global organisations with focus on commercial targets is an asset
