We are looking for a Senior Engineer in our team, where you can feel yourself secure and comfortable. G&PQS is working with FACTS applications in Västerås, Sweden. FACTS (Flexible AC Transmission Systems) technology enables power system owners to increase capacity in the existing electric power system while improving electrical stability. As a result, more power reaches the customer with a minimal environmental impact and at lower investment costs compared to alternative solutions. Your responsibilities
Your main task will be to work with auxiliary component and system design of our plants to assure the highest quality and robustness in our delivery projects and tenders. This also includes smaller or larger amounts of power system studies.
You will be in close contact with the other engineering disciplines, sub-suppliers, project managers, customers, and other Hitachi ABB Power Grids units globally.
You will also have close connection to research and development activities for our complete product portfolio.
As a Senior System Design Engineer, your mission will be defining the overall technical solutions and cover several technical areas, which provide great opportunities for varied and developing work.
Your tasks will include main circuit design and related design studies as well as possibilities to perform power system studies to verify the plants' performances in our customers' networks.
Your background
You hold a degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on electric power engineering or engineering physics.
You have +10 years of experience in high voltage product design and standardization
Knowledge of AC Auxiliary Power design (< 1 kV), DC Auxiliary Power design, UPS, Distribution panels, battery charger, low voltage cable design (<1kV), applicable global standards as IEC, ANSI, IEEE, i.e
You are experienced in dimensioning all part of the (AC/DC) Auxiliary system and it is components, manually or through tools as ETAP, FEBDOC, or similar.
You have an interest in and a passion for FACTS applications, power semiconductor technology and substation design.
It is considered as a merit if you have previous experience of working in tenders and are familiar with activities such as cost estimation, coordination with sales, understanding customer specification.
You have good communication skills and the wish to work in a dynamic and multicultural environment.
You are fluent in English, both spoken and written.
