Skype is a social multiplatform and includs not only audio but also video and text. They are well known for their great quality in audio/video.
The company has about 1600 people employed globaly and the Stockholm office houses around 90 of those and around 20 different nationalities is represented here. This Engineer Office is growing rapidly.
Skype is now looking for a highly motivated senior low level mobile architect, with strong expertise in mobile software development, embedded Linux, as well as networking and enterprise software architectures. This position requires a very technical and hands-on leader with the ability to build up a motivated and commercially focused team of talented engineers.
Main responsibility is to work closely with Skype RTC software and ?manage? the local resource (cpu, battery, memory, network) on a device to archive best preserved audio and video quality for the end user. You are going to build up and work closely with a team of hardware engineers to bring-up new platforms and prototyping systems in order to lead the market. You will also work with product teams to convert the prototypes to successful commercial products and also interface with other teams in Skype to improve and extend existing functionality. You will get the chance to lead and manage a team of talented software engineers in a fastpaced and demanding software development environment.
We are looking for someone with excellent C++ skills and experience in hardware/ mobile phone knowledge (cpu measurement/ etc.) You are an expert in (embedded) Linux (kernel/ user-space, real-time) and has extensive mobile application development experience on e.g. Android, iOS, J2ME, Windows, Symbian. We want you to have proven track record of shipping quality software on embedded platforms and experience with programming for real-time systems. You have excellent communication skills and English is a must.
It's a big plus with knowledge of audio and/or video signal processing and experience in agile and test driven development methodologies.
