The arena
This position is located in the Laboratory Animal Sciences (LAS) Section within Drug Safety and Metabolism. This group supports all in vivo studies conducted at Mölndal and has active collaboration across the company. LAS scientists conduct studies to evaluate efficacy, confirm target engagement, and examine drug safety.
The role
Lead a team of staff responsible for the care and welfare of animals and conducting experimental studies. Additionally, the role supports scientists generating new animal models through contributions to robust experimental design and model selection.
Participate and lead work streams to develop best practices and implement quality control measures based upon quality science and current literature. This role requires the ability to engage in constructive and challenging dialogues across functions.
Minimum experience
• University degree in biology or related field. Must understand mammalian reproduction and genetics.
• Specialty certification or experience in laboratory animal science.
• In vivo skills in a variety of animal species
• Experience supervising and managing staff.
• Experience in experimental design and scientific publication
Preferred experience/requirements
• 5 years experience in laboratory animal medicine, including as a manager
• Knowledge of animal models within AstraZeneca?s core therapeutic areas.
• Advanced degree (Masters or doctoral level)
