In 2021, Zettle became Zettle by PayPal to go further in its mission to redefine financial freedom and help small businesses succeed in a world of giants. By offering them the tools to get paid, sell smarter and grow, we are empowering sellers across the globe to reach their full potential. At Zettle, we think that together we're made for more and that the best is yet to come. Our journey in putting an end to ordinary is just starting - Are you game?

As we continue our quest to democratise financial services, our Terminal Team is now looking for an inspiring Senior Android Developer to join forces with a community of innovative people part of our Tech Alliance in charge of shaping up Zettle's Payments solutions.
By stepping into this role, you will have the opportunity to co-tackle a wide range of technical challenges with the shared ambition to develop hassle-free solutions helping small businesses succeed in a world of giants.
In this spirit, you will team up with a group of bright minds ranging from Product Managers to App Developers, QA's, and many more.
Small minds never helped small businesses
At Zettle by Paypal, everyone believes that it takes originality and an open mind to start a small business. That's why, even if we take pride in how far we have come, we have no intention of sticking to known patterns or old truths.
To carry out our revolution and help business owners to thrive, we rely on dedicated Teams embracing the opportunity to openly discuss and challenge each other on the best way forward. In other words, we co-elaborate, co-own our successes as well as our setbacks, and make sure to learn and grow together.
A glimpse of what you would get here
Part of our Money Alliance, the Terminal Team has for core mission to take care of the low-level integration aspect for all the PoS hardware that Zettle provides, from card readers to receipt printers, or barcode scanners.
Broadly speaking, we work on delivering the foundation for other Teams to build upon. Therefore, one of our goals entails developing well engineered work while keeping UX in mind so that it can support other Teams with building a premium user experience on top of the solutions we offer. With that in mind, by joining us you will notably:
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to gather requirements;
Play an active part in the design of systems and features;
Implement systems and features with a high level of quality and maintainability;
Take the E2E responsibility for implementation, from the lower-level up to any included user-level experience.

Lastly, becoming an Android Developer at Zettle will also enable you to bounce ideas and cooperate with other bright minds across the Android Chapter through code reviews and mob programming sessions.
The traits to exceed
No need to say that besides being rewarding, developing Products that can make a positive impact is hard work! That's why we are looking for purpose-driven individuals who will find our journey as exciting and fun as we do.
To be successful and flourish in this role, it certainly takes to genuinely enjoy being part of a Product Team taking pride in delivering best-in-class solutions. As a colleague you are communicative, approachable, and always willing to share your knowledge and experience.
Last but not least, you feel comfortable considering multiple points of view and facilitating trade-offs on something that will eventually be put out into the world for someone else to use and experience.
The skills & experience to succeed
Although we'll be there for you, we think that the following skills and know-how would help to make the magic happen:
Proven experience in Android development with solid knowledge of both Kotlin and Java;
Good understanding of the interaction between hardware and software products;
A quality first mindset with a thirst for writing maintainable code, a know-how to write tests, and a constant care for the overall performance of the product.

And also...
You have experience with building solutions on top of AOSP
You have a good knowledge of C/C++

Where does the magic happen?
We look forward moving into our brand-new office in the middle of the Tech Hub in central Stockholm (Sweden).

We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer and together we uphold PayPal's One Team Behaviour, striving to be a place where everyone can benefit from equal access to professional development, bring their whole self to work and most of all, feel like they belong.
