We are looking for an experienced Senior Scientist to support analytical science activities for High-Throughput Experimentation (HTE). We are currently developing HTE for use in Medicinal Chemistry and Early Chemical Development to optimize our synthetic routes, yields and environmental impact of drug discovery. As a candidate you should have a good working knowledge of the field of analytical science, encompassing the technical and equipment knowledge and understanding of data requirements to support synthetic chemistry. This role is based at AstraZeneca's dynamic R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.



What you'll do
You will be working across different functions including Respiratory & Immunology (R&I), Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolism (CVRM) and Pharmaceutical Sciences (Early Chemical Development). You will collaborate with synthetic chemists to develop excellent analytical technology and data solutions for HTE applications and be part of a wider global HTE science and technology initiative to enhance AZ 's strategic capability in HTE. A passion for working in new scientific areas and developing solutions to technical and project challenges is a key requirement for the role.

Your main duties and responsibilities will include:
• Provide analytical expertise for HTE such as analytical method development and troubleshooting
• Assess new science and technology innovations for analytical HTE both locally and in collaboration with global HTE initiative
• Work with global HTE team and data leads to support advances in HTE data flows including analytical data processing capabilities, support of FAIR data and machine learning applications
• Work with AZ partner organisations to ensure HTE analytical instruments are fully operational and to develop new methods or software solutions
• Drive continuous improvement by training & capability build of other scientists



Essential for the role
• PhD in a relevant subject area (for example separation science and/or mass spectrometry) or a MSc with >5y relevant professional experience
• A strong working knowledge and experience in the field of analytical science
• Experience of developing and troubleshooting analytical methods
• Ability to operate across functional and discipline boundaries
• Strong problem-solving, in depth technical and personal skills



Desirable for the role
• Previous experience in HTE analytics and/or pharmaceutical industry is a bonus
