The Aerodynamics group within the Sustainability Centre department is a part of the Complete Vehicle organization at R&D, Volvo Cars. At Aerodynamics, we are working closely together with other engineering departments and Product Design. In order to be leading in energy efficiency and achieving stable driving dynamics, our scope reaches from the development of vehicle exterior to components and systems for optimal aerodynamics. We are involved in start-up of product concepts to final validation, setting and confirming target fulfilment and product data. We are also part of research and external collaborations together with national and international partners. Our group consists of two agile teams: Aero Product Launch and Aero Development.
What you will do
As a Senior Analysis Engineer you will be involved in all phases of the design and development of our products, including the pre-study work for vehicle programs. Part of your role will be setting and verifying requirements and carry out analysis work (physical and CAE). An important part of the role is to be a spokesperson for Aerodynamics and impact the products by close cooperation with other departments.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Proposing the best possible technical solution to fulfil aerodynamic objectives and targets
* Plan, prepare and perform wind tunnel tests and CFD calculations
* Develop new testing equipment and analysis methods
* Conduct analysis and create recommendations
* Contribute to the development of the group and the department
* Oral and written presentations in various fora and systems
The role is challenging, and you will develop your engineering as well as leadership skills. You will broaden your expertise in product development, attribute work and gain a wide network within the company.
Who are you?
We appreciate high integrity, professionalism and openness to change. To thrive in this position, we believe that you are communicative, strongly team-oriented and like to improve work processes. You have a university degree, at least M.Sc. or equivalent in Engineering, a driver 's license and you are fluent in English (written and spoken). We also expect you to have:
* High skills in fluid dynamics and a proven record of experience from that field.
* Experience from working with aerodynamics in the automotive industry.
* Skills in CFD (e.g. STAR or Elements) and CAD geometry work (e.g. CATIA/ANSA) as well as experience from wind tunnel tests and development of measurement systems.
* High level of communication skills, e.g. presentations etc. and experienced in cross-functional or cross-company negotiations/collaboration
