Its mission is to support decision-making and induce change towards sustainable development around the world by providing integrative knowledge that bridges science and policy in the field of environment and development. SEI is ranked as the 2nd most influential environment think tank in the world in the Global Go To Think Tank Report, compiled by the University of Pennsylvania's Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program.
SEI has about 180 staff members working at research centres in six countries around the world. Our Head Quarters and Stockholm Research Centre are co- located in Stockholm, Sweden with other centers in Estonia (SEI Tallinn); United Kingdom (SEI-York and SEI-Oxford), the United States (SEI- Boston with sub-units in Seattle and locations in California), in Bangkok, Thailand (SEI's Asia Centre) and in Nairobi, Kenya (SEI's Africa Centre).
Under the overall supervision of the Executive Director of SEI, the Human Resources Director is responsible for the strategic development and oversight of SEI's HR function and management. This includes initiating, developing, operationalising and implementing HR policies and processes and provide support and guidance to SEI's global leadership functions (HQ and Centers).
The position is part of SE's Executive Team, Global Management Team and the Stockholm Centre Management Team. The HR Director is based at the SEI Headquarters and Stockholm Center. The position includes international travel to SEI's centers.
The primary function of the HR team at SEI is to attract and retain global talent for SEI, while ensuring adherence to best practice HR policies, procedures and practices. HR work in close and collaborative partnership with Centre Directors and line managers, providing HR advice for the purpose of supporting SEI leaders in sound HR management to ensure continued growth of a diverse, strong, qualified and motivated workforce.
