Security Architect for Embedded Systems
The Security Architect is responsible for defining the SW, FW and HW architecture and requirements to achieve information security objectives in embedded telecommunication systems.
She/he will work with HW, FW and SW developers to define and document an architecture and define and document requirements, that add security features to the system like
Secure boot
Signed SW
Immutable Root of Trust
Secure SW upgrade / update functions
Authentication and authorization
Encryption functions in transit and in storage
Secure deletion
FIPS 140 compliant encryption engines
Common Criteria and NIAP related security approaches and requirements
and many others.
The architect is familiar with state-of-the-art security approaches, both in HW (like secure elements in processors, approaching security in ASIC and FPGA design) and in FW and SW.
He/she will provide security know-how to development teams, providing hands-on involvement with development and test through the entire product realization process.
The tasks include:
Work cooperatively with Product Line Management to define & clarify system & product concepts, features & requirements in the embedded security area; including threat models, threat analysis, customer use cases and customer experience expectations.
Translate the security requirements into the HW and FW/SW architectural specification & requirements.
Work closely with a team of architects and SW developers in establishing the security architecture and requirement specifications.
Lead cross-functional feature teams to facilitate & build consensus on product architecture and technical concepts for product security implementation.
Engage with SW development teams to provide embedded systems' security know-how to the teams and maintain alignment of the implementation with the architecture.
Documentation of product security architecture, requirements and concepts in clear, concise and consistent specifications.
Investigate new security feature requests and customer requirements; propose feature solutions and assess feasibility.
Experience:
A Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or equivalent education,
5+ years working experience in HW and SW related information security for embedded systems. Experience with communication systems - especially transport systems - is a plus,
Experience with information security related standards, like FIPS, common criteria, and others,
Excellent working knowledge of security concepts in embedded systems, like HW secure elements, standard cryptographic functions for authentication and encryption, random number generation (TRNG and DRNG), among others.
