Role Summary/Purpose:

We are looking for a Section Manager for the Instrument Engineering section, which reports into the BioProcess Systems Department within BioProcess R&D. The BioProcess Systems department consists of approximately 120 persons divided into ten sections, and is responsible for research and development of BioProcess Systems and solutions, including software, hardware and applications. Examples of products that we develop are ÄKTA, UNICORN, AxiChrom and FlexFactory.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Instrument Engineering section is responsible for physical verification and, together with the System Engineering section, responsible for overall system design, system requirements, system design verification and technical support.

The section manager role includes management of the section and the section members (appr 13 people), active participation in the BioProcess Systems Management Team and close collaboration with project managers reporting to the Portfolio as well as with colleagues within the department.

As a section manager you will be accountable for securing deliverables from the section into the projects, fulfilling the section/department goals and securing competencies of the section.

You will work to continuously develop both technical platforms/solutions and processes in order to secure delivery and quality of the products in an efficient way as well as continuously stimulate, develop and grow the employees in your team.

Responsibilities:

• To continuously monitor and work to improve the productivity of the section and the ability to deliver on time and budget.
• To actively monitor quality of the work done by the section personnel and work to secure that project quality objectives are met.
• Within given responsibilities make budget, forecasts and actively monitor spending.
• Within assigned technology area supply resources, tools and process framework to the projects.
• Review project work when requested by processes, project manager or whenever needed by other reasons.
• To continuously enhance the working practices within the domain of responsibility, including training of personnel, recruitments, new tools, new external collaborations and networking.
• In collaboration with project manager appoint activity leaders in projects.
• Authority to approve design input-, verification and design output documents.
• Within assigned domain of expertise, decide in technical concept and embodiment issues in projects, within framework given by project.
• To maximize overall productivity and quality for all projects by allocating resources from the section to projects in the most optimal way based on overall priorities.
• Decide on tools and development methodology within the assigned domain of expertise and in alignment with company development processes.

Qualifications/Requirements:

• MSc or similar education in relevant area
• Minimum significant years' experience in relevant product development
• Proven leadership and people skills from e.g. line management or project management
• Strong cooperation skills
• Genuine interest in developing people and technical solutions
• Strong communication skills
• Fluent in Swedish and English, both verbally and in writing

Desired Characteristics:

• Line management experience is highly desired
• Knowledge & experience from development of system products
• Knowledge & experience of product development models such as PRD
• Business awareness
