Description of directorate/division
The Accelerator Division is responsible for the design, construction, commissioning and operation of the ESS accelerator. The pulsed superconducting linac, to be built in Lund, will produce a 5 MW average power proton beam, driving the world's most powerful neutron source. The Linac Group is divided into two sections, one for the low-energy linac (normal-conducting structures) and one for the high-energy linac (superconducting structures and beam delivery). The group is responsible for managing and following up contracts with the European partners delivering these structures, for the complete integration of the linac in the tunnel, as well as for planning and coordinating its installation and commissioning.

The ESS Accelerator Division is seeking a leader for the Low-Energy Section of the Linac Group. The low-energy section goes from the ion source through the drift-tube linac, with most of the components coming from European collaboration partners. Much of the design work has been completed, and prototyping activities are taking over. The group is responsible for the complete vertical integration of this section, including writing requirement and interface documents, planning and performing the installation in the linac tunnel and for the commissioning. The section leader will coordinate, manage and document this work in close collaboration with the other groups and sections at the Accelerator Division and with the different work packages within the Accelerator Project inside and outside of ESS in Lund.
