Follows all outlined department protocols while ensuring patient safety, comfort and confidentiality. Proficient in the use of the ultrasound equipment. Competent in the use of all relevant computer systems.
• Selects appropriate equipment and transducer for use in ultrasound setup, following exam specifications.
• Explains the test to the patient. Instructs and assists the patient in positioning for the examination.
• Enters test data and patient information into computer of ultrasound equipment to maintain record of test results.
• Exercise independent judgment to tailor examination to acquire anatomic and pathophysiological data relative to patient's clinical presentation.
• Produces images of internal organs and ensures data gets stored.
• Perform calculations of exam data to determine physiologic parameters such as blood flow velocity, spectral analysis, color Doppler flow analysis, as well as embryonic/fetal development, gestational age, and fetal hemodynamics.
• Independently perform clinical diagnostic ultrasound examinations. This includes abdominal, gynecological, obstetrical, small parts, and intraoperative ultrasounds.
