The Product Group Transformer Components and Service is a key product group within Hitachi Energy. In one of our main units, located in Ludvika, Sweden, we develop, sell, and produce Transformer Bushings and Tap-Changers. We are part of delivering a safe way of transferring electricity while keeping losses at a minimum. As the world transitions towards an energy system with electricity as the backbone, aiming to more than double our consumption of electricity worldwide until 2050, Transformer Components and Service, and Hitachi Energy are well positioned to make this happen.
As SCM R&D Specialist, you will be part of a key function in driving and coordinating sourcing activities together with our suppliers and internal interfaces such as Engineering, Production, Quality and Marketing & Sales. You will work together with stakeholders to find the most cost-efficient and reliable solutions and setups from the beginning of a product's life cycle. You will also work together with a team of category specialists, who support each other in a high paced environment with great atmosphere.

Your responsibilities
Be the interface between R&D Engineering and SCM (Supply Chain Management). Drive SCM knowledge (market, suppliers, external intelligence) into the development process to optimize with engineering cost, quality, and technology. Translate engineering requests into SCM parameters for execution.
Act as technical professional interface between the R&D Technology Project Team, the Local Business Unit SCM teams, the Product Group SCM team and the Business Unit SCM Category Managers, ensuring that project information is adequately shared between the Project Team and the various SCM teams.
Work according to the gate model, arranging project SCM gate meetings as required and creating and maintaining the project related SCM documents.
Be responsible for initial cost and quality estimates and achieving product cost and quality targets. Work to optimize the cost and quality at all stages of the R&D development projects, including investment and test costs.
Work with the local SCM team and Business Unit Category Managers to find new potential materials or new potential suppliers for critical materials. Select, with the support of local SCM team and Business Unit Category Managers, the R&D prototype suppliers, and final production material suppliers, in line with product cost requirements, future product footprint requirements and SCM strategies, while ensuring sustainable quality and cost.
Manage directly with the suppliers for each project the ordering and on time delivery of the prototype parts, in line with the critical project development and testing plan. Work to minimize the prototype and out-turn sample delivery time to reduce overall project timeline.
Work to optimize the cost at all stages of the development projects, including prototype and testing. Compare and develop the best value chain for the new product considering packaging cost, transportation and logistics cost, import duties and currency risk.
Support the development of new lower cost suppliers to meet the level required for sustainable quality and on time delivery.
Understand, discuss, and agree on CAD drawings & parts tolerance with suppliers.

Your background
University degree in Engineering (Bachelor or Master)
Drive to challenge yourself and the organization for continuous improvement.
Excellent communication and networking skills as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Strong sense of ownership and entrepreneurial attitude.
Well versed in MS tools - Excel, Power Point, SharePoint, Power BI, etc.
Fluent in English, Swedish is a plus.
At least 3 years or more of relevant work experience in Power Grids products.
Experience in dealing with external suppliers.
Proven skills in project management and document management
Knowledge of production methods, materials, and standards (ISO, DIN, IS).
Exposure to use of 3D modelling tools (Creo, SolidWorks).
Experience in Supply Chain Management
