Adecco Life Science in Gothenburg are now looking for a research scientist with hands-on experience of setting up and developing assays for a longer assignment within the Lead Generation Department at AstraZeneca R&D, Mölndal. The assignment is within the Lead Finding Team.
The Lead Finding Team is responsible for development of primary and secondary assays and iterative screening of compound series in the lead identification phase using automated and semi-automated methods. The Lead Finding Team works closely with the Hit Finding and Lead Optimisation teams and represents a key component in AstraZeneca's drug discovery strategy.
The ideal candidate requires strong theoretical and practical experience in biochemistry and pharmacology, good computing and large volume data management skills as well as hands-on screening experience using advanced laboratory automation equipment. You should have an academic degree or equivalent experience in a bioscience discipline and 3 years of working experience within that discipline. Collaboration skills are essential. Previous experience in a pharmaceutical or clinical lab is desirable.
The successful candiate will have
Demonstrated skills in receptor pharmacology, enzyme kinetics and cell biology (both theoretical and practical) are essential.
Experience with development of biological assays (receptor, enzyme and ion-channel targets) in multiple plate formats and operating semi- and fully automated systems.
Experience with, and an interest in the handling and interpretation of large volumes of biological data.
Knowledge of the lead generation and drug discovery process is desirable.
Excellent communication skills combined with a problem solving, goal oriented and team working attitude are essential.
