An exciting opportunity is now available for a driven Scientist to join our Genome Engineering team within Discovery Sciences, which has responsibility for the generation of novel genome editing technologies to support projects in all phases of the drug discovery pipeline. We have a focus on target identification, target validation, disease model generation and the therapeutic use of stem cells. You will join our team in Gothenburg, Sweden, and you will focus on the in vivo delivery of CRISPR/cas9 reagents and assessing the genome editing outcome.
We continually push the boundaries of science to deliver medicines that treat diseases across our main therapy areas. Through our integration with Alexion, this now includes expanding the limits of scientific research to better understand rare diseases and to discover new life-changing treatments for them.
What you'll do:
The role is focused on conducting laboratory-based activities, applying in vivo knowledge and skills to deliver reagents to mice, collect samples for biomarker assays, and assess editing efficeincy by next generation sequencing. With your knowledge and experience in genome editing you will have the opportunity to apply this to gene therapy projects. You will drive project delivery and scientific innovation, participate actively in problem solving and work globally with AstraZeneca colleagues and collaborators.
Additional responsibilities:

* Collect samples and perform biomarker assays
* Quantify the efficiency of in vivo genome editing
* Analyse data and present results
Essential in the role:
* You should hold a degree or have significant relevant experience working in with small animals and a molecular biology environment.
* Licensed and proficient in 'hands on' in vivo work, delivery of reagents and collection of samples for biomarker assay.
* Strong knowledge and experience with core molecular biology techniques.
* Expertise with CRISPR based editing and NGS analysis of genome editing outcomes.
The successful candidate should also have the ability to communicate in a good way, be collaborative and a strong team player and be an innovative thinker. You should be able to work independently, take initiative and have a positive, goal oriented and problem-solving attitude. Good organisational, data management and documentation skills are required, and you should be comfortable in presenting your results.
Desirable in the role:
