Här finns 42 000 studenter och drygt 7 500 medarbetare i Lund, Helsingborg och Malmö. Vi förenas i vår strävan att förstå, förklara och förbättra vår värld och människors villkor.
MAX IV Laboratory has operated successfully for almost 30 years and is currently completing the new MAX IV synchrotron facility in Lund.
More than 1000 scientists from Sweden and the rest of the world are coming to the MAX IV Laboratory every year to use the x-rays produced by our electron accelerators. They do research in areas such as materials science, structural biology, chemistry, and nanotechnology. 190 people are currently employed at the MAX IV Laboratory. MAX IV is the largest and most ambitious Swedish investment in national research infrastructure. It will be the brightest source of x-rays worldwide when inaugurated June 2016 and will replace the existing laboratory, which today consists of the storage ring MAX I, II and III. MAX IV Laboratory is hosted by Lund University.
Tasks
As part of the so-called "Transfer Package" MAX IV Laboratory is developing instrumentation for low density matter research.
This includes imaging spectroscopies and high-resolution coincidence experiments including a velocity/momentum imaging spectrometer (for 2D or 3D detection) and a multi-coincidence magnetic bottle spectrometer primarily for electrons. The instrumentation will be used at the MAX IV storage rings (primarily at FlexPES) and at the FemtoMAX at the linac short pulse facility (SPF). Close collaboration with the existing MAX IV Laboratory low density matter community is vital for the development of the instrumentation and the user community support.
The successful candidate will coordinate and participate in the development and buildup of instrumentation for momentum and energy imaging spectroscopies and coincidence experiments on low density matter within the "Transfer Package" project. The candidate will also coordinate and participate in commissioning of the above instrumentation using various excitation sources, including FemtoMAX and FlexPES.
The candidate is expected to develop an own research program utilizing the developed instrumentation and to participate in the further development of low density matter research facilities at MAX IV Laboratory.
The candidate is also expected to take part in planning, implementing and managing user support for the developed instrumentation.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:
• Ph.D. degree or equivalent in physics, chemistry or a related field
• Documented experience with instrumentation for spectroscopy and coincidence experiments for low density matter
• Documented research experience making use of similar methods and instrumentation as what will be built up within the present project
• Demonstrated excellent team-working and coordination skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills and good command of English
It is a merit if the candidate has documented project management experience and documented experience with writing of project funding applications.
