AstraZeneca is now looking to recruit a bioanalytical scientist with in depth knowledge in the area of quantitative bioanalysis of drugs and drug metabolites to join our team in the CVMD DMPK department for a consultant assignment. The team you will be part of is focusing on metabolism, biodistribution and disposition of small molecule, conjugated peptide and nucleotide drug candidates. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the discovery of new life changing medicines for patients and demonstrate and witness what science can do.

Cardiovascular & Metabolic Diseases (CVMD) is one of the three main therapeutic research area within Innovative Medicines and Early Development (IMED) which deliver candidate drugs into late-stage clinical development. CVMD is based in AstraZeneca's world-class vibrant R&D center, located in Gothenburg, Sweden. CVMD DMPK interacts with other functions in supporting CVMD projects all along the value chain, from target selection all the way to market launch and Life cycle management.
Now we are looking for a bioanalytical scientist with in depth knowledge in the area of quantitative bioanalysis of drugs and drug metabolites to join our team in the CVMD DMPK department for aconsultant assignment. The team you will be part of is focusing on metabolism, biodistribution and disposition of small molecule, conjugated peptide and nucleotide drug candidates. You will have the opportunity to contribute to the discovery of new life changing medicines for patients and demonstrate and witness what science can do.
Tasks and responsibilities:
You will be responsible for analysing drug candidates and their metabolites in various in vitro and in vivo samples including sub-cellular fractions as well as tissues, plasma and bile samples.
Your responsibility will include delivering quality in vitro and in vivo bioanalytical data including analysis of drugs, drug candidates and drug metabolites in various in vitro and in vivo samples including cells, sub-cellular fractions, tissues, plasma, and bile samples to support PKPD (Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics) and biotransformation work in projects from target selection to LCM (life cycle management). The data generated is mainly aimed to provide insight to quantitative pharmacology as well as to right tissue and right exposure aspects including the fates of drug molecules/metabolites.
This laboratory based scientific role includes developing and validating methods to enable delivery of data with the necessary quality and scientific information aligned with the project needs. The role requires interactive, effective communication to provide clear data and guidance to project representatives, act as an example to other scientists, and contribute to the overall team delivery. It will also require making judgements about bioanalysis information, developing innovative solutions and applying cross-disciplinary understanding.
Utbildning/erfarenhet
Minimum requirements and key factors:
• M.Sc or equivalent degree in a relevant discipline
• Track record of delivering state-of-the-art bioanalysis data to projects in discovery and/or development setting
• Good knowledge of liquid chromatography and mass spectrometry ionization and detection (LC-MS/MS) and bioanalytical work in Drug Discovery & Development
• Basic understanding of DMPK
• Understanding of the overall drug discovery and development process
• Good communication skills in English, both verbal and in writing are required
• Demonstrated ability to work in team and independently
