Our team is growing and we have an opening for a Scientist experienced in histology, to join our Bioscience In Vivo Department within the Early Respiratory and Immunology. The role is located at our vibrant R&D site in Gothenburg, Sweden.

From a research perspective we work to understand, treat, modify and ultimately cure respiratory and autoimmune diseases such as asthma, COPD, IPF, IBD, RA and SLE.


The successful candidate will join a highly motivated Histology and Image Analysis team. The wider team works closely together with other departments focusing on Target Translational Science, Bioscience In vitro assays and Drug Metabolism/Pharmacokinetics to support discovery projects and to drive new exciting research.


What you'll do
As a Scientist in our team, you will be a vital member of the department to progress our respiratory and immunological drug discovery projects. In this role you'll provide support to the develop of efficacy assessment in our in vivo animal studies and target validation in human biological samples in an exciting collaborative environment.


This is a mainly lab-based role with specific activities including:
• routine histology techniques (tissue processing, embedding, microtomy and staining)
• perform histochemical, immunohistochemical and in situ hybridization stains on a variety of preclinical study tissues using automated staining platforms (i.e. Ventana and Leica Bond)
• develop immunohistochemical protocols to validate the target in rodent and human tissues
• maintain digital archive of stained slides using a large variety of digital scanners (i.e. Leica Aperio AT2)


Essential for the role
• Minimum bachelor's degree in biological sciences
• >1 year relevant histology experience
• Ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining high-quality slide production
• Excellent communication skills, enthusiastic, self-motivating
• Ability to contribute to project discussions in area of histology
• Ability to work and effectively communicate in a local and global team environment
• Teamwork is crucial and the candidate should have a high degree of flexibility and collaborative skills


Desirable for the role
• Respiratory and immunology disease knowledge, including target and mechanism knowledge
• Knowledge and experience in image analysis using commercial software solutions
