The International School of Älmhult is a warm, friendly and welcoming school. We are truly international in many senses. There are 47 different nationalities and backgrounds represented amongst our students. We also strive to employ a diverse community of teachers. This year we can boast teachers coming from 34 different countries. We are an IB school, which means that we are progressive and work to develop the skills for the 21st century and prepare our students for an ever-changing world. The school has developed and grown over the past five years, so we now have around 500 students. In 2017, we moved into our new home: a modern and eco-friendly building, with a lot of open space and light.
WORK TASKS
As a school caretaker, you are involved in making everyday life easier for everyone at the school, both students and staff. Your work is very varied and the days often differ depending on what happens during a school day. The school caretaker collaborates a lot with both students and teachers, but also has a lot of cooperation and contact with other functions within the municipality's various organizations, such as real estate.
A selection of tasks can be, for example:
• ongoing maintenance and relocation of equipment
• locks, alarms and key management
• handling mail and certain goods orders
• manage certain systems via the computer (eg error reporting, locks and alarms etc)
• self-inspections, fire protection and safety patrols
• practical help for outdoor days, sports days, study days and other activities
• some student work
• sound system and stage for school graduation and other joint events
You will be employed at the International School and the International Preschool. Your main mission as caretaker will partly be combined with working with after school activities or as a class resource.
QUALIFICATIONS
To success in the role as caretaker, you need to be independent, service-oriented and put the student in focus. As a caretaker, you are a central and important person at the school. The assignment is very varied, which means that you need to be comfortable working iindependently and make your own decisions. You also have the ability to initiate and implement improvements on your own. Of course, it is easy for you to collaborate with others and build a positive relationship with students and colleagues at work but also with your external partners. You are a confident adult and a role model for our students. You must be fluent in the English language, both in speech and writing, and it is an advantage if you can also communicate with colleagues at the municipalitys property-department in Swedish.
The work can sometimes be physically demanding so you have a good physique. We are happy to see that you have experience of similar work and that you master modern IT technology, but we will place great emphasis on personal suitability as the work means that you will work close to children who all have different backgrounds and abilities. You have at least a high school education, preferably with a focus on technology or crafts.
Driving license is a requirement.
