SALES MANAGER - NORDICS - FIELD BASED

Thermo Fisher's Microbiology Division (MBD) employs approximately 2,000 people worldwide and is headquartered in Basingstoke, UK. The division provides a wide range of products to many different markets, including the pharmaceutical industry, food manufacturers, biotech companies and research facilities. We are now looking for a Sales Manager to join the Nordic team; you will be managing a team of eight field-based Account Managers in the Sweden, Denmark, Finland and Norway, and will be reporting into our Sales Director, Europe who is based in the UK. YOUR RESPONSIBILTIES:

The work will be varied but focused on driving sales, through strong leadership and hands-on sales management. The sales team is responsible for the sales of Thermo Fisher Scientific, Microbiology products and services to an established territory of accounts by utilizing the face-to-face meetings telephone, e-mail, Internet, and other technology.

Responsibilities will include:

• Achieving or exceeding sales and profit targets for your sales region through effective leadership of the regional field based sales team.
• Regularly meeting with sales team in the field and accompanying them to key accounts. >60% field based with regular coaching days to develop the teams skill set and results
• Developing and executing a strategic and tactical sales plan for the region to ensure revenue objectives are met by using company defined financial models.
• Working to drive product sales to support supplier partnerships and actively promoting core products and value added services.
• The management and development of the abilities and successes of your sales team. You will provide role model leadership and management activity including coaching, goal setting and effective delegation to stretch and develop team competencies. Through regular observation, appraisal and monitoring of call metrics you will encourage and identify excellent performance also swiftly and appropriately intervene where performance or compliance is below expectation
• Continually measuring personal and team success against the country's sales plan making the necessary challenges, interventions and decisions to successfully deliver, or exceed plan expectations
• Providing weekly verbal and written updates and monthly reports to the Direct Sales Director
• Developing and maintaining a rounded understanding of the sales positioning of the Microbiology Division and its products within the various markets in which we operate. Using this knowledge, effectively leverage the strengths and breadth of the organization by building and maintaining an effective network of connections within the Thermo Fisher Scientific organization
• Maintain a high level of business knowledge relevant to the region managed including competitor activity and market trends.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

We are looking for a driven Sales Manager who is passionate about leadership and who can motivate their team to perform at their best. It is essential that you have a degree, ideally one with a scientific focus and at least 3 years of experience of managing a field-based sales' team.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have laboratory experience from a wide range of sectors including pharmaceutical, industrial and academic segments.
• Be able to travel to regional and national meetings approximately, supporting your sales' team in the field. Travel is expected to be around 60%.
• Possess excellent organizational and team work skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally with colleagues and other departments.
• Have exceptional communication, presentation and time-management skills.
• Be someone who has strong business acumen and strategic selling, negotiation and project management skills.
• Use Word, Excel and PowerPoint a must, sales force automation software a plus proficiently.
• Be used to working in a complex matrix environment and managing their work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
• Strong work-ethic, the ideal candidate will have a commitment to continuous learning, show career progression and development, and seek opportunities to stretch capabilities.
• Demonstrate Thermo Fisher's 4-I values (integrity, intensity, innovation and involvement)
• Highly developed Selling skills and Sales Management experience
Microbiology experience preferred
• Speak English and at least one Nordic language fluently.
• Have a full clean driving license
