What's in it for you?
System Crash Testing is our group within the section Crash- and Strength Testing. System Crash Testing mainly performs tests on components, safety-systems and even fullscale-tests.
We have various rigs, two crash simulators, two crash-tracks and a driving simulator so we can conduct various test conditions that simulate real crashes. Volvos vision is to develop cars in a more simulated and theoretical environment. To be able to create new test methods and test environments for the future, it puts demands on our creativity, drive, change willingness and courage.
What you'll do
The group mainly performs tests in our rigs for customers from VCC but we also do testing for external customers and suppliers.
Our team consists of 14 employees working within crash sled-testing, 7 Test Technicians, 5 Test Engineers, 2 Test Object Coordinators.
You will be part of a team that plan and execute safety systems testing using reinforced car bodies (test objects) mounted on crash simulation sled systems.
These rigs are high powered, servo hydraulic propulsion systems that are able to replicate crashes up to 55g or 60mph and with a correlation at almost 100% to real life collisions. T
he team works closely together with an Analysis Engineer who acts as the customer and sets the parameters for the test.
As a Rig/Test Engineer your main responsibilities are running the crash simulator and preparing the test object in regards to transducers, data acquisition systems,
hi-speed camera views and anthropomorphic test devices. You will collect the data and video recording from the test and compile it for further deliverance to the Analysis Engineer.
The Test Engineer act as the main link between the customer and the test team and is obligated to book pre-test meetings with the customer, the
Test object Coordinator and the Test Technicians.
In parallel to the testing you will take part in rig and test method development and also represent our department in projects concerning your field of expertise.
Do you fit the profile?
Applicants must have a university degree or equivalent (B.Sc or M.Sc), and knowledge of measurement techniques, data collection and signal analysis.
You are good at communicating both in Swedish and English, (both written and oral)
We want you to have very good knowledge of PC environment and standard PC applications.
As a person, you enjoy working in an often changing environment.
You have good social skills and teamwork qualities, you take responsibility for our deliveries with a high degree of flexibility.
You have a sense of detail and like to take initiative and help where needed.
If you also have experience working with servo hydraulic systems, this is an advantage.
