Research in health and care sciences focuses on people's experiences of ill health, disease and suffering. The research is conducted in conjunction with recovery, the retention and promotion of good health as well as in sociocultural structures and in relation to the body as a biological system. Research in areas such as care for chronic conditions, health and environmental transitions in health care is ongoing. Person-centeredness is a profile that permeates the research. Two research centers are located at the Institute; the Gothenburg Centre for Person-Centred Care (GPCC) and the Centre for Culture and Health. The Institute of Health and Care Sciences offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs as well as individual academic courses within the first and second cycle of higher education within nursing, reproductive and perinatal health, radiography and health care pedagogics. The institute also offers a postgraduate program leading to a PhD degree in Health Care Sciences.
The position is designated palliative care. The research on palliative care examines how well-being and quality of life can be made possible in connection with progressive and life-threatening illness for both the patients and their relatives. We investigate specialized palliative care as well as palliative care integrated within other care forms, regardless of medical diagnosis and location of care as well as care for the dying.
Assignments
This position involvestwo-year half-time position as researcher in the research programme Implementation of Palliative Care. This research will integrate disciplines including health care sciences, palliative care, organization, collaboration and team, and implementation research. The research is designed to contribute knowledge about challenges faced by people in need of palliative care to facilitate care that better meets their needs and preferences. A close collaboration is established with the department for palliative care at the Sahlgrenska University Hospital and other hospitals in West Gothia Region, and national and international partners. The research is conducted in collaboration with the University of Gothenburg Centre for Person-Centred Care-Europe's only research centre for person-centred care in long-term illness.
We are seeking a researcher to work with scientific questions related to implementation of palliative care. The job assignments will include planning, designing, data collection, analyses and reporting, and proposals for empirical and theoretical studies.
Qualifications
PhD of relevance for palliative care implementation research is an absolute requirement. The successful applicant has a research background that includes clinical field research and experience in a variety of analytical approaches, has good verbal and written communication skills in both Swedish and English, and shows evidence of interdisciplinary collaboration. Documented research experience in palliative care, implementation, clinical interventions, organization and collaboration in team and/or participatory action research are special merits. The assessment of applicants' competences will be prioritized in the following order: scientific merits, ability to obtain external research funding and administrate skill.
