hela Sverige Do you want to help shape the future of transport solutions in Europe's green transition? Are you ready to make your mark in one of Sweden's most dynamic growth regions? VTI is now looking for a passionate researcher to lead and develop our e-mobility operations based in northern Sweden. E-mobility involves the development and implementation of electric vehicles (EV) and systems, as well as more efficient, sustainable, and intelligent mobility solutions for people and/or goods. An important part of this is the integration of the transport and energy systems.
VTI, the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, is a government agency that conducts applied research and qualified investigations in the transport sector. We have approximately 240 employees and an annual turnover of around SEK 290 million. VTI is at the forefront of applied research in the transport sector and actively contributes to solving society's major challenges. Our headquarters are in Linköping, with additional offices in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Lund. Through this recruitment, we are taking a first step towards establishing ourselves in the expansive northern part of Sweden, where we want to help realize the vision of a sustainable society. As part of this, VTI has recently become a partner in the Arctic Centre of Energy (ACE).
Northern Sweden is an epicenter for the development of electrified transport. Significant investments are being made here in innovative projects that integrate energy systems, electricity production, and transport solutions. Together with strong energy research environments and regional actors, we at VTI want to contribute our expertise and further strengthen the region's position. Through our central role in the Arctic Centre of Energy, you will be a crucial link in realizing this vision.
You will perform your daily work in Skellefteå, but you will initially formally connect to our Linköping Office (Main office).
About the Role
As a researcher with a coordinating role in e-mobility, you will:
• Identify and develop business opportunities in e-mobility to strengthen VTI's presence and contract operations in the region.
• Build and nurture strategic relationships with key players and partners in the region to ensure successful collaborations.
• Coordinate and drive R&D initiatives, from idea to reality, in collaboration with both VTI researchers and external stakeholders. This includes seeking funding for research projects for yourself and other VTI employees, as well as leading and participating as a researcher in projects.
• Together with partners and stakeholders within ACE, realize a common agenda for e-mobility.
• Your workplace will be at Skellefteå Science City, Campus Skellefteå, where the Arctic Centre of Energy is also located.
You will belong to the Traffic Analysis and Logistics (TAL) unit but work broadly for the entire research institute. The unit has about 40 researchers, analysts, and doctoral students and works with applied and socially motivated research as well as qualified investigations in logistics, transport, and traffic systems. In addition to traditional studies relevant to the transport policy goals of consideration and function, we particularly work with the energy supply and digitization of transport systems. The focus is on developing knowledge, solutions, and decision support that contribute to the development of sustainable, resilient, and efficient logistics and transport systems.
About You
We are looking for someone with a burning interest in sustainable transport and societal development. You have a PhD in a subject relevant to the position, several years of experience in research and innovation, and are an outgoing relationship builder with strong networks and connections in northern Sweden. Experience in international collaboration, work within EU projects, and a well-developed national and international network within the sector are meritorious. As a researcher, you are expected to take your own initiatives, work independently but also be able to collaborate and lead others. You therefore have good experience in project management with both external and internal partners. You have extensive experience in application processes and have obtained research funding from various financiers. Furthermore, you are proficient in expressing yourself in both spoken and written Swedish and English.
With your drive and expertise, you will be a key player in shaping a greener future for northern Sweden and beyond.
Take the chance to be part of a dynamic team that makes a real difference - apply today and help accelerate the transition to electrified transport!
